One thing I noticed in the past season is that we never really got to see the Cutie Mark Crusaders use the abilities of their type of pony; we don't really see Scootaloo fly, we don't see Sweetie Belle do magic, and Applebloom... still not sure what's special about an earth pony other than some vague notion that they have some innate magical bond with the earth? I dunno.I was looking for an excuse to draw a dangerously adorable humanized Sweetie Belle. She has grown to become my favorite Cutie Mark Crusader so that became pretty much obligatory. Then it dawned to me; why would Rarity try and teach her sister some magic if she can ask the most gifted magician is Ponyville to show her the ropes. Also, it makes for dorky-Twilight, which is always the preferred mode of Twilight.
So here's Sweetie Belle starting out with some basic telekinesis.
I'm also planning to do one with Scootaloo and Applebloom.

This is a neat concept! Sweetie Belle's also my favorite Cutie Mark Crusader (I just love that design and Rarity's my favorite pony). That's definitely a good point that you've made - it's extremely easy to forget that Sweetie Belle even is a unicorn. You did a splendid job of humanizing her just as you have with the others, and I think you were especially successful in the face and the details of the dress. The contrast of the sharp and soft coloring of the characters and the background is also really appealing.

Well Unicorns do have little magic when they're young and it takes time to develop. I think teaching her the basics were good.

Yea, we were discussing the aura during the stream, where we pretty much agreed that the aura matches the pony's eye color. Seems to be very consistent so far.

Awesome! I've been wondering why they don't seem to be taught magic and flying, unless they're in special schools. I mean, Twilight had to study it on her own, and according to Lauren Faust, Scootaloo just "haven't figured it out yet".
Oh well, it makes for better plot lines
Earth ponies are just supposed to be very into plants and animals and stuff. Fluttershy would Ironically be the ultimate Earth Pony in some way ^^.

According to the creators of the show, Fluttershy was indeed originally going to be an Earth Pony - the role of the second Pegasus was originally going to be filled by Pinkie Pie.
