Good thing I got a lot of praise from my art teacher in high school.

Then again, you know that art classes are easy when you get a 10/10 for a drawing that you think is at most a 7/10.

A drawing is supposed to convey an emotion, to make a point, or to tell a story. If you get lost in details and making it perfect, you lose the purpose of the drawing. A perfect drawing with no point is a waste of paper.

The thing is that this particular drawing had no soul and didn't even meet the requirements as set by the teacher, at least from my perspective.

But I do agree that artists shouldn't get too attached to a single drawing; no amount of technical perfection will safe a dull, soulless drawing without purpose.

My other reason for grading this piece a "10" is seeing tons, tons of comics with art worse than this, but perfectly capable of delivering an emotion and making me like them. And many perfect realistic portraits that bored me.

I like to think that my art is expressive, so I suppose I succeed in that regard :]
