It has a very high rate of fire (Want in an SMG,) small profile (also want,) and manageable recoil, especially when a suppressor is equipped.

That second misconception is a common one, given it's rather pistol-like shape, and the fact that Wikipedia, despite it's fallacies, is the first place people go to check facts, and it says the same thing. However, the thing that seperates SMGs and machine pistols is that MPs use a recoil operated slide whereas most SMGs use blowback operated internal actions (although a few are gas operated). Given the fact that the Ingram M11 (aka MAC-11) has a blowback action, it is classified as an SMG, not a machine pistol.
In summary, a machine pistol is a pistol designed to fire automatically, and a sub-machine gun is a small machine gun that fires pistol cartridges instead of rifle cartridges.

On that first one, all I can say is that you should never make assumptions; I haven't played a console game since I posted that comment. I'd figure you to be the sort of fellow who'd know more about baking than gun play, but I could be wrong, so I won't make that assumption.
