Description For a class project. The goal was to make something for the World Wildlife Fund, and one of the endangered animals. I was originally going to do white rhino, but thought that it wasn't such a good idea, since the White Rhino sleeps under trees, and deforestation means that they just sort of fall asleep under the hot African sun and bake. It was kind of funny, but I didn't really like it.

My original idea was that I was going to do a homeless panda, so he was going to be sitting on the street with a cardboard sign that says "Will Work for Bamboo" but then Peter (my teacher) didn't like that idea, and suggested that I have a similar sitting panda sitting where the bamboo used to be. Now, I've already been docked marks in that class for not being original enough once, so I didn't go with the idea as he said I should.

Instead I looked over the idea for about half a week before, while sitting on the bus I thought about half a dozen things, like how I could do all of this with the minimum amount of work, and an advertisement that I had seen on the bus months before that was "Erase the signs of a stroke" where there was a needle with a pink eraser as the poky bit. There were also thoughts like when I was working on the thing, how my actual drawing looks all sketchy and rough because erasers are so damn hard to control, and you can never redraw what you erase the way you drew it the first time.

All of these ideas combined together rather nicely to make up the idea that I wanted to communicate.

Anyway, I was told that I really did well on this one, so we made the joke "Haha, looks like I've finally reached my full potential" based on a comment that one of my other teachers made about one of my previous projects that I knew wasn't very good, where he said that teachers had to be very careful about the words they say and how they say it, so they have to communicate "You sucked on that project" without saying those words, so he chose the words "I don't think you've reached your full potential", which meant pretty much the same thing.

That was without a doubt, the best project I did in all of my time at Georgian. It got me into the display case, and everyone was like "Yay, you finally got into the display case. Now everyone can see your work." and I was like "Yay, but I can't tell you that I still did it the morning it was due."

Wow! Honestly I like the concept of this idea. It makes a whole lot of sense considering the panda population at points.

Nicely done - quite powerful. ^^

Thank you very much. It really is one of my best pieces. In the research that I did on this project I actually found out that there are quite a bit more pandas than a lot of researchers had thought, and they had found this out with DNA and droppings and stuff, but the key message to it was that the panda's habitat is being wiped out in the name of expansion and as a result they don't really have anywhere to go. I'm really glad that it turned out the way that it did, and I'm really glad that you like it.

Panda! I like it, the concept is interesting and the design is simple but effective.
And hi! It's your friendly neighborhood Gaian stalker! Same name without the underscore. I visited your profile and decided to take a look at your DA account, not bad. Go look at mine while you're here. ^_^

I'm glad that you like my Panda picture. I got an 85 or 88 or something on it. I'm really happy with it.

I'm glad, you seem like a really cool person, too.

And I like the rest of your gallery, and I don't want to sound desperate but it's been forever since someone commented on my art, could you tell me what you think of it? One artist to another?
