Description IMPORTANT NOTE, especially for Hitler admirers:

I don't like him. I don't think he was a great leader, a great politician or a great man. He was weak and ignorant, a madman, a very sad, very wicked person.

So if you're one of those who admire him please think the matter more thoroughly.

I just made a photo-manipulation of him without his mustache.

Eternal shame to his name and deeds.

I read he only had that toothbrush mustache because the army forced him to shave most of it off in WW1.

Somehow I get the odd feeling that 100 years from now when all the people who lived under him are dead and gone and his deeds a distant memory, that when Germany goes through a hard time again that a bunch of assholes will look back and proclaim him "a great leader." Ugh...

True, while he was a despicable person for hosting the Holocaust, he wasn't all bad. (And I'm not an admirer, rather, just a young girl interested in him.) Not to mention that he and his family had a history of mental illness, and the fact that his father beat him when he was young, and that he was ashamed to have Jews in his family, led him to plan out and execute the Holocaust.
To my knowledge, and through extensive research, he, HIMSELF never killed a single Jewish person. He indirectly killed the approximated 6 million, but in all actuality, it was the Nazi regime that carried out the Holocaust.
Sorry, I don't normally strive to get my "two-cents" in, I'm not that kind of person; I've just been on a Hitler binge these past few weeks. My apologies for your time wasted.

thecarlosmal In reply to Se7thHvN [2010-12-18 08:04:01 +0000 UTC]

You had me at "he was a despicable person for hosting the holocaust". I agree that he is not some sort of encarnation of Evil, thus he had good things, like being a human being and liking dogs, but those things are normal in a lot of people. What not a lot of people do is instigate hate and mass murder. Whenever I try to contemplate Hitler's contribution to Germany's economy and morale I just remember the hell a lot of absolutely innocent families had to go through. He was not the hand that pulled the trigger, but neither was Stalin. Augusto Pinochet didn't personally go and kidnap thousands of Chileans, he didn't dug the mass graves were they were buried, but he's responsible. I think you get my point.

I understand being passionate about Hitler's persona; I was very excited to learn a about the Nazis when I was younger, I read a lot and tried to have objective, historically neutral conclusions about the subject, but it is difficult after seeing the lack of humanity in an entire MODERN regime like Nazi Germany.

Probably in a thousand years we'll see it as coldly as we see the killing raids of Gengis Khan, but as for now, it hits too close to home, even when I'm Mexican, not a little bit Jewish of descent (at least I guess that's so)nor religion.

Thanks for taking your time to comment, it's something that should happen more on DeviantArt.

Thank you so much for commenting back!! It really does mean a lot to me, and it makes me think that you took the time to read thgouh my lengthy comment to supply me with an equally verbose response. I love that, and you're right, it doesn't happen enough on deviantART, rather, anywhere else, I think.

You have a good - nay, an unquestionable point that in that way, of the Holocaust and his deep-set hatred for the Jewish race, and all who didn't fit his vision of the ideal human being, was a terrible and despicable thing. His background was interesting, though. I think I've come to terms with that being the only real reason I have any interest in him.

You're right, also, in the way that is too soon to be thinking about Hitler in really any way other than "the man who launched the Holocaust." You are, again, right, how the Nazi regime could be so ruthless in their ways and their equally passionate hatred of all things non-German. I've recently heard, via the History channel (it's your decision to say whether it's correct or not) that perhaps one of the reasons that Hitler and the Nazis hated the Jews so much is that at some point in some rendering of the Christian Bible, it's said that the Antichrist horseman - that is, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - was a Jew.

I'd like to continue on with this, but I feel like I'm being verbose and loquacious in a bad way. But know that I've thoroughly enjoyed this discussion!!

Adolf Hitler was weak in some aspects but strong in others. He did bring the country out of Hyperinflation and what he wanted was a Germany for German's only, His weakness was his quickness to put blame on the Jews for there problems. Add that he was addicted to speed and you have one crazy dictator with irrational decision making.
