Description Well, this took a while!

Five hours of hard work, man, it really tires you out.

I know many of you will be wondering, "Who the hell is Doctor Steel?" and "What the hell is wrong with this child?!" (I get that alot...) but--BUT!!! I will tell you who he is!

Doctor Steel is one of the most amazing human beings on this planet. And well...I'm not too good at explaining, and I'm contradicting myself again, so click this [link] here or even this [link] here!!!

And guess what! 8D They both take you to the same place!!!

Ooh...I'm so wicked and twisted, I make a black licorice stick pale in comparison. But enough of that!

Okay, from left to right; Nanus, Xan (AKA Dr. Xan), Doctor Steel (In his Irkenized form), Phish, and Tweak.

And yes, Xan is more than moderately affraid of the good doctor because he doesn't exactly think that any of his new boss' mannerisms are very...well...sane...or allowed.

8D!!! *squee*

Anywho, I'm very proud of myself right now. I don't think that it could've gone any better. (Except for the background...I got a little bit lazy and half-assed when it was nearing completion...but don't tell anybody!)

~Remember, leave comments before you favorite or else I'll sic my evil robot henchmen on you!

I mean it.

Oh, yes.

This is actually some cover art (I guess) for the comic I'm making with the good doctor in it. So much chaos, so little time to wreak havoc on the heads of so many clueless people.

I'm really happy that you think so highly of this picture. After all, It took me well over five hours to complete.

And I agree, cake candy bars would be nice. And creamy.

When you say it, you say it.

That's what happens when your hero isn't a "mainstream" artist. Almost nobody knows about the poor guy over here in Washington.

But! my comic is developing very well, lately. The only bad thing is, it's in pencil still. That means that I have to be reeeeely careful with it in the mean time before it's inked.

I will, however, post my comic up here on DA once I'm done inking it.

I WILL PREVAIL!!! D:<

Yeah nobody knows who Dr. Steel is up in New York state. You live in DC? Cool I love DC! I traveled there, a bit crowded but its beautiful there.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-24 01:23:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, actually, I live in the other Washington. (Don't feel embarassed. It's happened to me more than once. ^^)

The little, mostly forgotten state on the fringe of the Pacific Northwest. I live in a little rural valley-thing village (Walla Walla) that's nestled between the Blue, Cascade, and Rocky Mountains. It's horrible really. If I ever want to travel somewhere else, I'd have to run up and down the Rockies. [And I get motion sickness! ]

And it's sort of odd, though. New York is very densely populated, is it not? And I'd swear that Doctor Steel lives somewhere near L.A... Where is Los Angeles located again? I've always thought that all of those big cities were clumped together...

But you know, if you looked around hard enough, I'm pretty sure that you could find some of his Toy Soldiers running around over there.

I still haven't signed up, though. I'm only 14 and I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to become a Toy Soldier or a Toy Scout or a Nurse...very hard decision. I think I might as well wait until I can drive before I sign up...

Oh the state of Washington, I'm very sorry. I should've known. I always think DC when I hear Washington because it is more popular. I don't live in New York city, I live waaaay far away from that. I am in New York state in a small town, which is located near two small cities. I visit Rochester sometimes. I like the store there so I shop there for Christmas, ironically there's more crime in Rochester than in New York City. Pretty strange considering Rochester is much much much smaller than New York City. Guess its all those ghettos. I'm a toy solider! You talk in forums and stuff, the people are really nice.

Toy Soldier?!

Well, take all my money and call me a hobo! Good god, I'm terribly sorry. I had no idea that I was talking to Doctor Steel's royalty here. This is awesome!

So awesome...I'm speechless--I really don't know what to ask first. Did you get one of those little "welcome packs" when you signed up? O o

I would so very much like one of those little packs. I would love them good.

Mostly, tell me what you guys do as Toy Soldiers. I would so very much like to know.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RevivalPhoenix In reply to TheCau [2008-11-25 02:21:39 +0000 UTC]

I didn't get any packs yet. I talk in the forums, well you do the missions in the forums, whether its living a steam life to support steam punk. (Like steam technology). Or bake Dr. Steel themed cupcakes or the 1 million hits to Dr. Steels music, I might've helped since I have about 5 of his songs on my page on myspace. I would like to go to one of his conventions, there is a comicon in Canada, but I don't know if he will be there or not. I don't have any Dr. Steel stuff to wear either.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-25 02:35:01 +0000 UTC]

That would be so awesome if he was there. And you know, if he does happen to appear there, he'll probably be in his decontamination booth so he can shake hands with people and autograph stuff. My life would be halfway complete if I could shake his hand. 50% complete. Right then and there.

And cupcakes! I would love to bake cupcakes. (My friend and I are planning to make an awesome looking holiday plate with his image on it and send it to him on Christmas, right along with a big bag of peanutbutter and chocolate chip cookies.)

My whole life would be completely complete when he finally takes over the world. Then I'd paint my house in his image: right on my roof. Then I'd probably take up a job making his toys. That would make me so happy...

And right when I'm able to drive legally, I'm going to head on up to the first convention that he has with my friends. I would die to see him perform live. And who knows? He might have more songs out in four years. Well, actually, that might be a given, but! I'll go anyways.

Oh, I love that man. I love him so. He's my idol.

I love crazy people. So his crazyness is what makes him lovable by his fans. The crazy is what does it. Crazy is contagious. Good thing I was already a crazy person lol...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-25 02:56:35 +0000 UTC]

Yes! Yes! Agree!

When I first saw him, it was on YouTube. I only got to see a small snipett of his performance and I got to saying, "Well, hey there. Who was that funny looking fellow?" and then my friend educated me a little bit. Although, I wasn't too impressed.

Then, later, when we were heading over to a comic book store in my friend's mother's car, and then I got my first dose of Doctor Steel's music. I remember that it was "Fibonacci Sequence". As soon as it started up, there was alarms going off in my head and I said, "Woah! Who is the brilliant person who concieved this fine melody?" and my friend replied, "Doctor Steel." And I swear, my frontal cortex was on proverbial fire by the time that she uploaded every last song he had onto my iPod.

And so, there was the beginning to my mad man-fueled madness. I mean, I've always been crazy waaaaay before I first heard about him. I went insane faaaar before anything could have influenced me. And I swear by my life that he is my idol; doing things that I can't even begin to dream of or will ever get to do.

And he is very crazy, as said by his PSA's and whatnot. He won't deny that he's insane. I mean, he was incarcerated for two years. Anybody that insane and ingenious is bound to do something amazing.

Oh, jeez, I'm really becoming a blabber-mouth, aren't I?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RevivalPhoenix In reply to TheCau [2008-11-25 03:00:25 +0000 UTC]

Hey its cool, yeah but I like people that admit they are crazy. Some crazy people are still in he crazy closet. And are being total normal posers. Jeesh, well nobody is particulary normal since everyone is different. Normal is just a made up thing. Everybody is weird. Since everybody has problems and everybody acts differently. Everybody has a little Dr. Steel in them, wanting to do what they want to do. Wanting to have fun, wanting to change the world into a better place.

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-25 03:09:21 +0000 UTC]

Amen, man, amen.

And hey, if you like when people actually admit that they're crazy, I'm borderline criminally insane! Except, in a more condensed, highly artistic form. Hee hee...

You, kiddo, are one deep thinker. I think we'd be able to get along quite well. ^^

Oh, one question...when did you join? Not to be nosy or anything, I'm just overly curious--perhaps a little more curious than I should be, but that's just how I work...I guess.

Awesome, oh and you can be any age to be a toy soldier. Its a internet group too you know. For people who truly appreciate him. You have to do a lot of missions to get nurse and yellow jacket and scout and stuff but being a soldier isn't so bad at first. Hopefully I'll be able to move up in rank.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-27 23:13:02 +0000 UTC]

Neat! I didn't know that. But, I do know that you have to rise far above the call of duity in order to be promoted to Yellow Jacket.

But first, my friend and I are going to email him first before we start doing anything. It's this weird impulsive thing that we do for no reason, but that's not the point. I've noticed that he gets online at least every day or every other day, so, with that information in hand, we're pretty sure that he'll reply. And if he does, he'll officially be the first person who has ever responded to our impulse of curiosity!

We've emailed quite a few people before, but I know that as soon as they saw it in their inbox, they screeched, "ACK! Begone, you horrible prying children!" and deleted it on the spot.

Oh, well. But we're going to give this a try. At least in the end we can say that we tried to send something to our idol.

Oh, and by the way, what kind of "missions" do you go on on the internet? (Just curiosity popping through my paper-thin cranium again.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RevivalPhoenix In reply to TheCau [2008-11-28 00:34:11 +0000 UTC]

Mostly endorse him. Like try to fulfill a mission on the list and do it. I need to do some I haven't done any. He talks to me on myspace. Its awesome. If you have myspace he might talk to you on there. He talks to a lot of his fans.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-28 00:43:56 +0000 UTC]

Ack! One more reason that I should get a myspace page...drat.

But! it fills me with hope!

He's fun to talk to, no? I would die a million times over if I could talk to him. And perhaps get my heart beating so fast that either I'd faint or my head would randomly explode. (Or maybe I'd undergo spontaneous bodilly combustion!)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RevivalPhoenix In reply to TheCau [2008-11-28 15:29:11 +0000 UTC]

Well he is polite, amazingly he responds to all of his friends comments. He's a nice guy which is amazing that a music artist like him has the time to answer back to people. Most don't.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-28 20:45:43 +0000 UTC]

I would guess so. ^^

He struck me as a gentleman when I saw some of the "televised" interviews he did.

And a talented man he is, indeed. Not only is he an exceptional artist, composer, and visionary, but he's also polite and very, very nice. (As you informed me.)

I can't wait to email him! Just anticipating the outcome is enough to put a smile on my face and butterflies in my cranium!

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-28 21:19:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, how do you do a "pre-draw"? Do you do "pre-draws" already?

I could give you some advice, if you need it. Afterall, just look at my "White Spirit" ([link] ) and my "Dark Spirit" ([link] ). I'm pretty sure that I could teach you some tricks of the trade.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RevivalPhoenix In reply to TheCau [2008-11-28 21:20:26 +0000 UTC]

Wow your stuff is cool. Well I would like some tips on the feline anatomy. My legs on my lion look screwed up like step by step instructions maybe.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCau In reply to RevivalPhoenix [2008-11-28 21:40:12 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I'm now going to reveal my not-so-secret secret.

But always do your pre-draw LIGHTLY. (So you can erase it later.)

Alright, see how certain joints in your arm look like circles? Well, I use circles as a guide when drawing my animals' legs, not to mention the rest of their body. Okay, now, notice how the actual bones that make up your arm (such as your forearm) are straight...like lines? Use lines in conjunction with your circles in order to plot out your position and bend in the legs.

Use my "White Spirit" picture as a reference.

Now, look at your arm (every mammal on this planet has the same arm make up, except for the lengths of certain bones), bend it in the position you want the lion's front leg in. Now, take notice of the position of your joints. Start with the elbow. This is very short on cats and should only come down until its near the bottom of its ribcage. Now from the elbow, draw your first line in the angle that your arm is in. Draw another circle for the wrist at the end of the line. In a lion, the bones in your palm are elongated, so, make the next line about one third the length of the first line that you drew. After that, draw another, smaller circle to represent the paw. From there, draw a tiny line in the direction you want the paw to go.

Now, for the back legs. (Every mammal on this planet has the same leg make up, save for the fish and dolphin and whale.) Just look at your leg as a reference. Notice the joints and bones. For a lion, the bone that connects to the hip shouldn't pass the rib cage by much, but it must be SLIGHTLY longer than the rib cage. The next bone ALWAYS faces backwards. The bone that makes up the hock (the part of the leg that can touch the ground in conjunction with the paw) shouldn't be longer than that of the leg before it. The paw should follow the same rule with that of the front paw.

If that was confusing, I'm very sorry. But remember, joints are circles and bones are lines. You should look at a picture of either a lion or some other big cat for proportion.

(I can post this tip up in a little bit if you'd like an actual walk-through instead.)
