Hmm...
I guess I should try to sketch out my
drawings first before I actually attempt to draw the final drawing. x_x
This helped me a lot!

yeh i think using a lighter lead is the way to go. becuz then ur actuall picture looks cleaner on the actual peice of paper rather then seing blue lines verywhere. and as for when its scanned and on the computer i dont think pencils could get any cleaner than yours blue pencil or no blue pencil.
these are usually the steps i take when drawing. but it was interesting and helpfull to see the way u set up the different body parts when first drawing your pose your pose (in step 2)

That's pretty much my steps as well. Instead of the 4H...which I used to use....I use blue pencil instead. Damn good tut, bro.

welll if ya gots like a 4h or any H lead in amech pencil.. or heck if you felt like even buying those blue lead then that'd be even better.. but this seems to work for me..

i used it just before, and i find that it allows you to see lines and curves easier in your mind, while a darker pencil would obstruct ur own view of what you're drawing. does that make sense?

hell yeah....kinda strange how alot of people are trying to get better, but they dont know the difference between 4h, hb and so on...
def. gotta do your HW before drawing seriously. and keep it up with the "CHAMBA" art. thats a new style right there.LOL

haha yeh..
i dunno..
i mean.. i thought most people who'd wanna do improve their art would atleast know the grades of the lead.. from lightest to darkest... or atleast know what the H's are and teh B's are..

i on the ohter hand close my eyes a moment and imagine a cool movie action scene in bullet time, pose one or more of my citizen urban toon characters in the view i've come up with, then continue drawing the base adding details either by layer with wacom or sometimes i re-trace on the backside of the paper. though most of the time i just doodle when its actually on paper

Hmmm, you know, I always find it interesting how each artist goes about doing their art. I really like the fact that you sketch out a few ideas before choosing a pose, that's definitely something I need to start doing. One question though, do you ink your art or take it straight to the scanner after the finished pencilling?

Ah ok. Just thought I'd ask becuase I'm seeing alot more artists skip that part and I can never really get that crisp, smooth look without it.

hmmm so do u use a new clean sheet over the top o' the rough one to get crisp lines? or do u just rub out the roughs???
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
theCHAMBA In reply to noobian [2005-02-13 15:56:22 +0000 UTC]
nuthin..
those scans of the 4G lines are ridiculously darkened.. played around in levels for the lines to actually be seen.. i just draw over the ah lines on the same paper.. w/o erasing any 4H guideline out. coz it's gardly noticable..

The key everyone needs to get out of this tut is to try different poses before committing. That's the same thing I do, I carry a pack of sticky notes with me so when I want to draw a character I might rough a bunch of different poses on them before I commit to one. The only difference between your technique and mine is that I rough the pose I settle on with a blue pencil and draw my final with a mech pencil right over the blue. Blue doesn't come up when you scan so all you see is the black on the comp.
It is nice to see how other folks create their images though.

I have never done a multi step sketch like this, how do you keep it clean. I mean with all the pencil lines I would think there would be a total mess
