Alright, It was inevitable that I do a piece of the Little mermaid for my February Draw-a-day over @ the sketchtavern.
As much as that film seems to be directed toward the female audience, I enjoy this film quite a lot.
Great lead, classy supporting characters, one devious villain and to top it off, an ace soundtrack!
So here's my rendition of that scene, sub-par to the original (as only one inspired by could hope to achieve) but an attempt none the less.
Finished the lines, and Ariels colours before me midnight deadline, but w/ me mates being over couldn't step back to the comp to beat the clock. Ohwell, here it is now, fully completed.

She has super human mermaid powers that makes her hair bone dry the second she comes out of the water so it can flow dramatically behind her completely not weighted down by its sheer volume or water. Oh, Disney. I likey the perspective.

A couple things I notice about this picture:
-You made her face look more desperate than how it looks in the movie, which in my opinion fits the song better. It's beautiful.
-You made her stomach/shoulders/chest area a lot more attractive than many other Ariel versions I've seen. And her hair is beautiful.
-Her fish tail actually kind of disgusts me in this, because it really does look like a fish tail. Especially where it turns when it's closest to the water. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. I think it's great!

The power of this piece is incredible--I get the real sense of the ocean beneath her...Absolutely gorgeous pose---her facial expression is fantasticlly dramatic and the hair looks wonderful in the wind! Gorgeous work!

This totally reminds me of the days back when I used to try and find any boulder that was similar to that of the movie and re-enacted the scene over and over until I was satisfied that I had become Ariel herself.
