Description
"Just to live one day out there"day 10 of Sketchtavern's February Draw-a-day brings me to one of Disney's (in my opinion) darkest Animated Feature.
Disney's 1996 Animated Feature The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Judge Frollo would probably have to be one of Disney best Villains, and by best I mean most evil. EVIL!

Right, this movie has like adult themes o,,0 Lord Frollo wants Esmeralda's bodeh. Kinda why I love the movie, it's different. Great job on him
You should do a drawing depicting the "Hell fire" scene. That'd be ultron dope!

Wonderful rendering! A great job incorporating your own style with Quasimodo. An instant favorite!
Without a doubt, Hunchback of Notre Dame is my favorite Disney film-- it is indeed darker; so multi-faceted. Though I have to contend with Claude Frollo being the most evil of Disney villains-- he was indisputably the antagonist of the film, but his actions were not of preconceived malevolence, rather he is a very complex character whose downfall is his irreconcilable contradicting senses of justice, religion passion, etc. He thinks he knows what is right, and he basically goes mad in the end.
Consider comparing him with Scar, Malificent, Jafar and company, who are fully aware of the wrongs they are committing to achieving their own ends.
But that's just my two cents.
Thank you for sharing your artwork!

Oh, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"... This is probably #3 on my list of favorite Disney movies of all time. ("Aladdin"'s #2 and "The Lion King" is #1!) This film was so beautiful... I absolutely loved this scene (for some reason, whenever I watched this movie I had to watch this part at least 3 times), and the song was so emotional. (I've listened to it an absurd amount of times on my iPod.) Anyaway, this is a picture is amazing and you got the colors just right. A definite fav!

great pic man, and this film has one of the best scores of any disney films. love the whole look of the film, the buildings and backgrounds, the songs, the colours and just how bad you feel for poor quassi.

Definitely one of Disney's darkest (I'd even venture to say the darkest) films, and an utter masterpiece. My favorite Disney film of all time and one of my favorite films, period! I've been a fan of it since I was in third grade.
Breathtaking reproduction of Quasi, here, and in such a striking style! That scene and song are so beautiful and uplifting.

That movie was great, and you're right; for Disney, that was very dark … but they still changed things!

Oh my God! I love you for this
Notre Dame was perhaps one of Disney's best movies(and, like you said, darkest)
Perhaps Judge Frollo can be seen as the most "evil" because out of all the Disney villains, he is the closest to human with real human flaws... but that's just me
Anyway, awesome picture and great choice of screencap

that could be it i think, the very human flaws of Frollo had made him something real.

Whoa! that was quick
But, yeah. Villains in general have very...typical, villainy goals. Kind of like world domination, money, power, whatever. Not that realistic. That's why this movie is so much more dark than the rest of the Disney movies(though not near as dark as the book) Especially since they keep Frollo's lust for Esmeralda in the film.
Sorry. I kinda talk too much.

Its one of my favorites, I absolutely love the dark feeling of the movie, seriously when Disney does dark stuff they do it really well, I remember the Ave Maria from Fantasia or Fire Bird from Fantasia 2000....it makes wonder why they dont do it more often.

In my opinion there's not nearly enough fanart for this floating around (perhaps because of its lack of princess, but whatever) and you captured it perfectly. Great work.
I agree about it being very dark, but it is based off a Victor Hugo book and that's much, much darker, as well as offering a bit of background on the characters, specifically Esmerelda, Frollo (who is, if it's possible, even creepier and awesomer), and Phoebus or whatever his name is, who's really quite a jerk. Whatever; I love the movie and the book and you did wonderfully. Great work!

That was one dark Disney flick, but then again there are others... (for example, "The Black Cauldron", and alot of other Disney films have their moments and they were good).
Oh and I agree about Frollo, though my favorite Disney villians of all time is Jafar and Scar.

or "night on bald mountain from fantasia"
This is definetly one of disney's best movies in regards to how utterly human it is.
Great rendering! Nobody on here seems to draw quasi.
(I love this whole sketch-a-day series by the way)

Judge Frollo was definitely the worst. I mean Cruella was going to make coats out of puppies, yeah, but Frollo chased down a mother with a newborn infant, and caused her to die.
What a Jerk. And he had the hots for Esmeralda(did I spell it right..?).

I agree it is one of the darkest, and its not a bad Disney film. I do like the COurt of Miracles...but if ya wnt dark, I feel that Tarzan's death of the hunter scene is pretty harsh, especially for a kids film, but it had to be done.

yep, remember "night on bald mountain" from Fantasia? That had a death god (pretty much resembling satan) playing puppeteer with evil spirits. (with creepy music to top it off.) That is arguably the darkest they have gotten, at least in one sense.

Thinking back on it; this was a rather dark, melodramatic outing for a Disney flick.
The only movie i can think of that's possibly more risque (at least by Disney standards) is Atlantis
