Description Another splatter of sketches. So many random ideas and different sizes of sketches went on here. this was probably over a week of sketches that I liked.

I'm kinda wanting to refine sketches sometime and bring them to a fully colored piece. It feels like when I go to make a finished piece I need to make a brand new sketch. Any of these sketches in here look cool enough to finalize? even on any of the sketch dumps I've done I'd be willing to go back and finish one of them.

Anywhoos, Thanks for stopping by to check my sketches out! And leave a comment, if you don't all of these girls will cry. they told me.

Love the sketch stuff. It's always more interesting to me to see an artists sketches. Really do like your style. What size do you draw them at? My sketches generally start around 2 in. when I draw like this. Do you draw yours larger?

TheCosbinator In reply to darkwan75 [2011-11-18 22:39:22 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I agree, love seeing sketch work!

Umm, I sketch kinda small at low resolution, like 1 inch 72 DPI. But then scale it really big to ink it at like 8.5in x11in 300 DPI.

Sketching it small allows me to see the whole picture and not get too fussy with details that can get ironed out later. It's mainly about shape and what looks good at first. For me that is.

Thanks a lot! I did it for a Halloween jam. It was one of those things, I liked the sketch better than the coloring. Oh well.

AWESOME AS ALWAYS!!!!

dude tall order asking which should be finalised... coz there is a good few on this one and at least two to three on every sketch dump you have done so far.

Thanks for sharing , gets me in a drawing mood, and thats always good, also thinking of just starting sketch directly to photoshop, saves the scanning hassle.

well, thanks man.

no problem! it's great to hear that my random sketch get people to want to draw. It kinda baffles me. A while ago I made myself start sketching in Photoshop because of the sheer amount of paper I would waste. I think I've saved a rain forest by doing so. Just a suggestion, when first starting in photoshop I haaaated it. but did it alot anyways, so don't get discouraged if it doesn't quite feel like paper, because it wont, and still doesn't for me anyway. You just have to find the way you like to sketch. (I've tried every PS sketch tutorial online and under the sun, well, feels like it lol)

Hey!

Thanks for the info, its funny, i think its all the other lines in sketch work that makes sketches so interesting and its that "Behind the scene" kind of effect that make people want to see how the magic happens. You have some really nice shapes and lines and thats what gets everyone so giddy.

As for using photoshop, thanks for the encouraging words (and the reality of it never feeling like paper). I really think its something worth keeping in mind that its worth saving paper (i am into environmental conservation) so all the more reason to get stuck in.

I need to sit down and look at building a pencilling brush set, and learn the ins and outs of my Wacom tablet.

I will definitely dropping you some questions once i get some hours behind the desk.

thanks again!

very true, I love seeing construction lines in sketches, and all the lines that people put down first then don't erase. So I try to keep them in my drawings. Thanks a lot, I've been trying to think in shape and form a lot lately.

Something I've found useful with the Wacom tablet, for me anyways. Is setting up one of the buttons on the pen as a (Alt+Ctrl+Z) step backward, or undo. so you could easily just scribble some gesture lines real quick for arms or whathaveyou. then just undo if your not feeling it.

Yeah man, hit me up. Always willing to answer any questions.

no problem! thanks for the thought out comments

One of the main reasons I've set it up personally is because I'm a lefty. you I'd have to reach across the keyboard awquardly to press Ctrl+Alt+Z or put the pen down,

sweeet

Everything!!? lol actually something I've tried recently. which may sound weird, Is I listen to music that whatever that character I am envisioning in my head would do poses to. and I can actually see it kinda clearly in my head and I get some interesting poses that way. Does that make any sense?

It's kinda fun when you have mental blocks.

EvilFire4321 In reply to TheCosbinator [2010-11-03 06:56:09 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yes, everything ! I understand what you're saying though. The music would help get in the character's head, which is awesome. I'll give it a try when I'm not consumed with homework!

That IS quite the distance away. lol I live in Florida so I'd like to look at what is available around here. (studio wise) I mean Disney is so close, but I'd be lucky if they let me clean the stalls there.

Sweet, thanks! I just wanted to make the classic "helloooo nurse" female archetype. Was quite fun.

I like the one in the upper right as well, I'd like to finish that one up.

xoPrincessMurder In reply to TheCosbinator [2010-11-03 07:33:26 +0000 UTC]

You definitely nailed the "Hellooo Nurse" thing! Haha, where do you get the ideas for these though, I love it! Do you even need references?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCosbinator In reply to xoPrincessMurder [2010-11-03 17:36:56 +0000 UTC]

ha, thanks! just random ideas, No I don't use reference but I've done shittons of gesture poses and what not.

There is a website [link] that shows 3-d models doing poses and I would just draw these sometimes for hours while listening to something.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xoPrincessMurder In reply to TheCosbinator [2010-11-03 22:24:10 +0000 UTC]
