It was cute for the first few pages, and then I was like O_O "Damn mare! Come up for some air!" and then they fell over and I was positive a sex scene was coming and I was like "... okay, that's it, I'm out. He IS a creature called a draconequus, not just the figment of some imagination. And since he's the lord of chaos, he can do whatever he wants and manipulate his body in ways that make him seem like a spirit or ghost. Yes Celestia called him a "spirit" but even if he was...then how can he be encased in stone? Hmmm? Who cares? It's something fans like and they should be able to express this without someone nitpicking over the show with details that probably don't even exist in the show.
I mean in the end, spirit or not, Discord can do whatever he wants so he's powerful indeed. And that does mean he can become solid, kiss Fluttershy, and even take it further than that. Which makes your debate invalid.
