Prince Diamond and Usagi is the one of those guilty pleasure ships.

It’s something about how dark and twisted this relationship would be, that just pulls me in and sparks the creativity within my mind. I’m usually, strictly a shipper who only enjoy fluff ships, that gives me sunshine and avoids stuff like NTR like the plague itself. But this is one of the very few parings which I enjoy its dark nature.
I have a distinct memory of this scene where Prince Diamond tried to hypnotize Usagi into loving him and it awakened something within me as kid and the utter disappointment after Tuxedo Mask cocked- blocked him, hahaha.

I enjoy this ship also because I found the contrast more interesting from a story telling kind of point, compared to Usagi and Mamoru’s relationship. I remember liking it in the beginning, but as the series progressed, Mamoru started to feel more like a gentle guardian similar to that of a father or big brother, than an actual lover. Maybe things are different in the new ‘Sailor Moon Crystal’ anime version. I’ve heard conflicting opinions on the show, so not sure what to make of it, but one of the positive things I’ve heard, is the relationship between Usagi and Mamoru, that it felt more fleshed out, but have no idea if this statement hold true. I will one day sit down and watch the new series so I can form my own opinion. But right now I will cling to the old show to reinforce my bias, hahaha.
