"For God's Sake! HOW DO YOU STOP IT!!!"
I wanted to capture a bit of all the films on this one, and evoke the feeling of the fact that Ash's battle with the Deadites will never really be over, and they'll just swirl around and around in our heads on and on through the ages - you know how it goes, right?

he got to see it when he was in town promoting 'My Name is Bruce' (which by the way is quite a fun flick) - [link] - and he seemed to get a kick out of it! It's payed art now, by the way
.The Deadite Vortex, The Classic, and the 'strange one' himself - Ash 'the one with the gun' Williams - and EDIT - I even threw in the hand clutching the ever ominous Kandarian Dagger!
I also did some tweaks on the colours, the levels, the contrast, and I think the hand & dagger help the composition overall, as well.
OK... NOW I think it's finished. Course', I'll probably decide to add a tree, and a deadite, and the laughing lamp, the moose head, and maybe even some debris, this time next year, making it complete overkill, right?

How did you make the Deadite Vortex? Did you paint all those little faces individually or what? I'm trying to painting my own Deadite Vortex and I'm trying to think of a simple way to do it.

Thanks for the kind words, this one was a fun challenge.
As for the vortex, great question! Thanks for noticing and commenting on that, too, btw. Well, it is a combination of a few things. I did a speed paint pass through, which I then blended to look smoother... Then I created about 3 custom brushes, made of hand drawn faces & skulls and swirls, purposefully kept 'faded' at the edges, or fragmented, so that it would blend well with itself. Almost like a seamless texture in a way... And finally, I went back over it and hand rendered out whatever I 'saw' in the swirls and resulting textures from my custom brushes. I don't know if that's exactly a simpler way to do it (especially when you take brush settings into account, dual colors, dual brush and texture settings to boot), but it's the way that it worked out for me.

It looks like quite the challenge, and now that I've read how you built the vortex, it looks like I've REALLY got my work cut out of me. Now I gotta go hunt down some good skull and face brushes that look remotely as awesome as those in your vortex.
I'll give you abit of a hint as to what I've working, at the suggestion of my friend ~ScarecrowCenobite I'm attempting to combine SailorMoon and Evil Dead. ^.^;
