You know, yeah, that did occur to me.
But I also thought that - kinda like Australia - I'd make a somewhat tropical and pleasant looking area, have many dangers lurking, where almost anything can kill you.

That's the general idea
Although the Cheep Cheeps have been in quite a few SMB games now.
I'm working my way through each of the first 3 NES games, with reworked versions (at least how I kinda see them in my head) of the baddies and of course the Mario crew.

It makes that image of Mario when he gets taken out that much more meaningful... can you imagine having one of these things jumping out of the water and biting a chunk out of your ass as you're trying to reach a castle, with hopes of rescuing a princess who 1) may or may not actually be at that castle, & 2) may or may not actually be that hot... running across a rickety bridge as swarms of these mofo's are splashing around you?
