Jesus shading that took forever. I actually used two techniques, more of a cross-hatching mismatched for the Destroyer and more of a smooth shading for Hydrias. That was done on purpose.

I loosely based the Destroyer off the personality of Glados.
The Destroyer here being Hydrias's Ancestor, who was once a benevolent kind force gone rouge due to a deadly injury.

Well, in a sense both are “testing” the opposing force. Both have radical personality changes, both seemed almost bound to what they’ve been made to do.

In this case Glados is bound to her eternity of testing subjects, the Destroyer is just a puppet for the destruction of the universe by the hands of Lord English. Both have a sort of minion, Destroyer with her Horsemen (the Agents of Derse) and Glados with her testing initiative robots Atlas and P-body.

Both have to come to terms with their past and make choices based on it, though they do it in different and radical ways. Both have been given a label of “disease”. Glados was given the cores to help sedate her nature of killing, and Destroyer was implanted with a disease in her mind to completely reverse her natural psychic ability to heal.
