Description

Qrath is a big and easygoing Lizardfolk Cleric. He's a huge, lovable lunk that does his best to support his party. He takes every opportunity to bathe in the warm, golden glow of his patron deity - the sun. Usually in the nude. Qrath has no qualms about hiding his body, only wearing enough to protect himself from the night's chill. His tough scales and the warmth of his god are all the protection he needs in combat.

This was a fun character to design. I ended up going a lot more on the himbo end of the spectrum than Nil expected, but he liked how it turned out. From the moment Nil told me it was a sun cleric, I knew I wanted to give him bronze/brass/copper disks to symbolize the sun. He carefully polishes the sun disk portion of the metal plates so that they gleam in the sunlight, but leaves the rest tarnished to make the sun disk stand out more clearly.

Something that's stuck in my head since I read Dark Souls 3's Pyromancer set description. 'In the Great Swamp, bronze was used ritualistically to ward off evil spirits and keep darkness at bay.' and it makes sense for a bronze-age culture like the lizardfolk to have similar believes, so I used it as the primary metal of his gear. If you look, you can see that the bronze bands are polished on areas where they would be rubbing up against his body the most. I also love how the bronze spear-head looks with the flat of the blade patina'd, but the blade polished up. It's a look I used when I painted my Kobold miniatures.

Other than the Bronze, the only other visible metal is the single gold disk hanging off of his spear, acting as his secondary holy symbol. I'm also very happy with the way his spearhead is tied to the shaft. The head has a hole in it and is designed so that it can be easily held in place by a tightly bound cord. It might have some pitch under it to make sure nothing moves.
