I actually prefer this design to the one they went with. Elsa's final design was a bit generic, whereas this design is more interesting and different from other female leads.

I agree. I thought the the finally Elsa they put on screen was too stereotype snow queen. The concept ideas were much better.Β

I actually really like this concept for Elsa. It kind of has that more "Malificent" feel to it, and I suppose the color black and snow go together because when you get frostbite your limbs turn black.
I LOVE her hair. It's sharper, like shards of ice, and takes away from that softer appearance then what the movie went with.

This one really sets Elsa off as the villain, but it make sines since this was during the development stage were she was the villain that Anna had to save from herself. Elsa's hair was going to turn white when she song her villain song and was designed to be black like in the concept up above to contrast with Anna being a platinum blond in early development.Β

I didn't know her hair was going to turn white.
That's very interesting ...

Yes. These's a butt load of concept art of Elsa with both black hair and white, and Anna with withe blond all the way up to red.Β

It is a good book, but it dose not have as much concept art of the characters as Tangled did. There is only 8 pages to Anna, 4 to Elsa and 2 to Hans. Now compared that to the 18 pages there were to Rapunzel that were in the Tangled art book.Β
Most of the concept art I have up is from tumbrl and Disney websites. As well as the artist themselves.

That's not quite fair to say, since most of the Elsa concepts went into the Snow Queen section of the book.Β

I didn't know Disney released a Tangled concept book. That seems pretty interesting as well.

Interesting....but I'm glad they went with the Elsa we know now. This was probably at the stage where Elsa was more of an "antagonist."Β

This is hideous.
Thank god they moved away from this concept. What a disaster it would have been. Ugh.
