I believe this is actually the first time I've shared what Lutrimon's rookie form looks like, but I also want it to be known that I actually redesigned her, she looked very different until I started to do these profiles and decided I didn't like her Rookie any more

Aki has always struggled with feelings of inadequacy, due to his father and older sister being successful academics while he and his mother were always being left behind when they went off to competitions. When he was four years old, they left for a championship in America and never came back, shattering his self esteem for good. The only thing he thinks he's any good at is swimming, and despite being a championship swimmer himself, doesn't even find that much of an accomplishment.

The truth is, Aki's inadequacy is all in his head, he's much better at everything than he thinks he is and is holding himself back due to lingering feelings from being abandoned, and a fear of leaving his mother behind just like his father and sister. He never gives himself credit for his accomplishments and doubts any praise that he receives from the people around him. Masato and Isamu recently convinced him to try out for soccer, and he enjoys spending the time practicing with them but he's terrified he won't make the cut and they'll leave him. He thinks the best of people, even when he thinks the worst of himself. Once Aki realizes he's good at something, he is very passionate about it, even confident and competitive, it just take him an extra bit of nudging to get him there.

His mother has been trying to encourage Aki for years to take on new hobbies and enter competitions and is quiet proud of him for finding his place in swimming, though she continues to try to get him into other things as well, and is thrilled that he has friends that are getting him into soccer.

Quite the opposite of Aki, Lutrimon has always been good at everything herself. She has a natural talent for picking up new skills, and is a teacher at heart. She was living in the Digital World as a caretaker for a village of young Digimon before one of the many territory disputes completely ravaged the area and left Lutrimon as one of only a handful of survivors. She was rescued by a Raider Group and taken to the Network where she began a search for her own partner, hoping to one day be able to return to the Digital World and rescue other refugees like herself.

However, none of the humans she met in the Network were what she was looking for so Lutrimon crossed over into the real world to search for her partner there. She lived in the real world for about a year before she saw Aki win a swimming competition and decided that he was the one she was looking for and spent the next several months tracking him down. She was not looking for someone strong, only someone dedicated and passionate, which she saw in him while he was competing. Realizing how low Aki's self esteem is, Lutrimon has taken it upon herself to encourage him to be more assertive.
