When Kaiyo was three years old she and her mother were involved in a traffic accident, she made it out okay but her mother died in the crash. Unable to cope with the loss of his wife and having to take care of a child on his own, her father eventually left Kaiyo with her grandparents and she never saw him again. Still, she was raised in a loving home with her grandma and grandpa and grew into an upbeat and positive girl. She's part of the chess club at her school but frequently volunteers her time to help other clubs, she's well liked by her classmates but doesn't have any close friends and mostly keeps to herself.

Her sweet disposition and apparent shyness leads others to consistently underestimate her, which Kaiyo likes to use to her advantage. She's clever, resourceful and dedicated- something of a dangerous mix when you're trying to keep a secret from her. Kaiyo is fairly stubborn and won't tolerate people being rude her or her friends, in fact this is how she met Puckmon, at first thinking he was a kid in a costume she refused to give in to his demands that she share her food until he asked politely. Within a few days she had him saying please without being prompted.

When Isamu and the others banded together with their Digimon, Kaiyo over heard them speaking about it and tried to pry information from them, and went on to do her own research when they refused to answer her questions about them. She even asked Puckmon to explain a few things to her when they had lunch together, but finally she resorted to simply following the group and catching the Digimon in action.

History:

Not much is yet known about Puckmon's history, he appeared in the real world having taken over the spot that Isamu and Ju had originally hoped to hide their Digimon partners, and later ruined the whole thing by causing a scene at a picnic. Puckmon likes to boast that he doesn't need a human and can take on Wemicmon and the others by himself without a Tamer- but conveniently has no interest in fighting once they take up the challenge. When he meets Kaiyo he's starving and desperate enough to give in to her demands that he be polite and quickly makes a habit of it in order to share lunch with her, which suggests he's actually not very good at taking care of himself if he's left on his own.

Though he dismisses the need or desire for a human partner, when trouble shows up, he is shown to be more concerned about Kaiyo's well being than his own and also watches her from a distance. It was suggested in the latest episodes that he may have been in contact with a human that did not treat him well, but precise details on who they were and what their relationship was has not been revealed.
