Trying to get back in the swing of things with a little robot drawing. This guy has got his Crash em up Derby cars out and is banging them together.Related content

Now this is just a sweet drawing, Mike, with some cool mechanics designed in, some really nice color choices, and you hit BIG on the Nostalgia Front: Kenner's SSP Smash-Up Derby! Not only did I have one of the first generation of SSP Racers, I also had the first Derby set (the one with the Chevy Nomad in it). Oh, I envy this little guy, he's got to be having a great time, those were cool toys! Another Hit, Mike!

I had the set when I was a kid, I can't remember the car models, but I was convinced at some point that I had actually done the damage to the doors, that for some reason when we opened the package the doors and hood and such were smooth, and they received the damage on the first crash. I don't know where I got that idea, but I crashed those things together forever, between them and my Evel Knievel sets I was pulling those plastic toothed rip cords non-stop.

Those were wild and great toys -- I was sad that I could not find my old SSP racer when I helped Mom clean out her basement, four years ago, in prep for her to sell my childhood home. That's a toy that got away, along with my Deal's Wheels model kits. Thank goodness I have all of my Hot Wheels redlines and all of my Odd Rodd trading stickers and, of course, all of my comic books! (Laughing!)

I have just a few of my childhood toys, mainly Star Wars figures from the 1977 era. My folks have moved four times since I left home so things have gone awry. sigh.

Correct! I had to put some serious limits on myself, about two years ago, as I was going a bit crazy in the pursuit of all-things toys with a childhood nostalgia factor... sigh

It starts as a pencil drawing and then it is inked over. This drawing was filtered in photoshop to tighten the lines up before I hit it with the color.
