my step-daughter loves Vader, when she was 9(she's almost 18 now)
we bought her a Vader mask for Christmas, one night we went into her room after she'd fallen asleep with the light on, and she was wearing the mask. Vader made her feel safe... odd child. That mask is still on her bed post.

That is a great story though, I have a stuffed Alf from the 80's that I still have. He didn't make me feel safe, just odd.
