It's taken me a year to get used to the idea of a feathery Tyrannosaurus rex, mainly because there are so many that don't strike me as realistic or intimidating. This is definitley one of the finest renditions of a realistic T. rex I've seen yet! The feather coverage is reminiscent of large birds like ostritches and cassowaries, and the extra twist is texturing it so that it resembles grizzly bear fur. I like how the feathers give way to scales on the jaws, belly and tail. Small details like lips and bony knobs on the snout help to convince the viewer that this is the real animal.
On close-up, you can see how the brush strokes bounce off one another, giving the animal great texture. The golden glow highlighting the animal's back add some tropical warmth to the setting. My only gripe with the scales is that the detail drops somewhat compare to the feathers in some places. Overall, this is a fantastic representation of a Tyrannosaurus: birdlike and intimidating, and one of the best drawings I've seen.

I dont understand why people arguing? We know almost for certain Tyrannosaurus Rex had feathers so by that it will be up to every single artist out there to put their own style and touch on how it might have been? It could have been Fuzz, Primitive, Hair like we dont know for certain yet but i think this looks cool!

absolutely gutish. We do have a null hypothetis that it might not have feathers. And it lost it at the line before Dilong in the taxanomy. In the latest publication by Currie and the rest they analyse the skin in the fossil that is in the disposal records but they do even indicate that it might have feathers. And direct evidence is existing on the texture of daspletosaurus horneri and trorsus. There is yet no scientific "proof" of any impression in the record that dismiss feathers but it does make a statement : Null hypothehis. There is still nothing wrong for a paleoartist to paint with feathers, and there is nothing we can tell yet without a direct evidence wich would be a mummie. Still plausability they are fully scaled and still a pausability they have feathers. Or do you have anything to prove the opposite? The fossil records indiciates atm for a scalier Tyrannosaurus rex but there is no conclusion of saying no feathers at all.

I start with the bones, scan, then print them out, then draw the muscles over it, scan lay over the bones, then print again, then draw the body over the bones and muscles. I make sure they align perfectly every time too.

Oh it's easy! Find the image you want to use on DA, scroll down to where it says "thumb", should be below link on the right side, copy and paste it and it should work!

GREAT! I only must warn you that the tooth crowns are too short. In real specimens their leght was about 1/2 of the height of the dentary.

You are welcome!
Only for you to see for yourself: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… the crowns and the roots have different shapes, so it is kinda easy to distinguish them.

WOW! Looks so cool, I like how that the angle of the image and the fact that its mouth is open mean that there is an ambiguity as to whether it has lips; no one can criticise it for being lipped/not being lipped - because oh lord is that a thing atm on people that try to draw larger theropods without showing their teeth. Either way despite my strange comment there ^^ this is such a cool piece. It looks so freakin natural and impressive
