I've been wanting to draw some Godzilla art as of late, so I made this portrait of Godzilla himself. I wanted to do my own take on this bad boy and I'm really pleased with it. I was reading about the first original concepts for Godzilla and how he is a metaphor for nuclear bombings. They did this because it was a little after the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki had happened, so Godzilla sort of represents those events. Even Godzilla's skin was inspired by the keloid scars Hiroshima's survivors received. So I wanted to have a good mix of the classic Godzilla design, with more exaggerated characteristics from the original concepts. I wanted his skin more wrinkly, torn, and keloids everywhere. I might do some more Godzilla characters later.
