Its been a while, but here's my 4th drawing in my series; Samurai Jack style! I have to say that this one has been my most challenging style to practice, mostly because of the background work, and even in character design. But I had a ton of fun doing it, and I hope everyone likes it. The Sky was done in Photoshop CS4, and the rest was done in Flash CS4. 9/13/09Related content

Thank you! It's not my composition or colors, but I did a study of the background from scratch to get a feel for the style.

Kick ass! One suggestion:
Right now, the open hand is lost in the body's silhouette. You'll get a better overall shape if you bring the hand out of the body so that it has its own silhouette.
And BTW. That background is f'n incredible! Not that the characters are not, but MAN! I love how perfect yet simple the BGs in "Samurai Jack" are. I've never been able to do that well, but you NAILED it.

I agree. I'm not completely satisfied with the character pose, but it was the only one I liked. I'm paying more attention to silhouette for future pieces, too.

Write about a bunch of different cartoons down, good cartoons with good designs, put it in your hat, shuffle it and pick.

Nah, that's a good idea. I've been thinking of doing not only good cartoons with good design, but also challenging, or at least not too simplistic. I didn't really consider my Shin Chan one to be a style one, cause I was just using it for my DeviantArt icon. But then apparently a lot of people liked it, which was great, but I don't want to do anything else with a style that's that simplistic. On my list right now are mostly old Nicktoons and Cartoon Network shows. But my mind is always changing when it comes to which one's I'd want to draw, so I usually draw them based on whether or not I feel like it.
But thanks for your suggestions.
