Actually...would this happen? As Its About Time showed that two instances of a time traveler can exist simultaneously... Prime!Twilight made the decision to blow off this party, because she was enroute to Ponyville under orders from Celestia.
Traveling!Twilight goes where the original is not, basically the timewarp version of what Pinkie was trying to do with the mirror pool. There's a paradox crash when you get to this episode, of course, but not so early.

Well we couldn't see what Twilight's Ponyville friends' (expect Pinkie Pie )reaction was when Twilight Sparkle told them about her old friends and her last adventures but I'm 1000% vsure that Rainbow Dash was laughing at her.

immblueversion [2015-07-06 07:08:24 +0000 UTC]

I know this is all just to be played for laughs, but for those who seriously think this solution creates a plot hole for the episode's entire dilemma, here's the thing: the problem isn't that Twilight left, even though she had a good excuse, as Spike pointed out; it's that she never bothered to tie up any loose ends, as Twilight herself pointed out. The S2 finale showed Twilight saying goodbye to Shining Armor, her closest friend at the time. Had she shown the others the same kind of appreciation, she probably would've found the time to do the same with them. Even afterwards, she could have gone right back for a quick visit and done it then. Either option would've at least softened the blow of her departure, and shown Moondancer how much others valued her. But instead, Twilight just set her old life on the shelf to gather dust, just like her old house. That's why Twilight feels so awful, and that's why her friends have every right to be mad at her, even though most of them aren't. This is the kind of conflict that had me completely floored in how amazing the episode was.

Time travel to deliver a letter saying why she couldn't attend the party?.
I would have loved to see a letter from twilight get blown away or hidden under a present.
It just doesn't seem like Ponyville's all team organizer to forget to send her regards.

But if you make good friends in Canterlot, then Celestia will never have a reason to send you to Ponyville to make friends, which means that you will never become an Element of Harmony.Β  If you are never an Element of Harmony, then there would be nothing to prevent Nightmare Moon's rampage or Discord's return, and you would never be promoted to Princess.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

immblueversion In reply to ishidan01 [2015-07-06 07:16:10 +0000 UTC]

Here's another solution: Twilight could've attended the party, and then Celestia could've sent her to Ponyville. Celestia knew Nightmare Moon would return, so she most likely would've notified Twilight had Twilight not done so first, just without the added notion of making friends (simply telling her to oversee the Summer Sun Celebration would set her on course to meeting the others). Her old friends were shown to be very understanding of why she left, so they wouldn't be bothered, while Moondancer would've appreciated that Twilight came at all. It's true that things probably would've been different, but not to the extent that the world would end.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Pony-kour In reply to ishidan01 [2015-07-06 04:41:24 +0000 UTC]

Or perhaps Moondancer, Lemon Hearts, Twinkleshine, Minuette, and Lyra would've been the other Elements. That makes six, after all...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MrSpanyard In reply to Pony-kour [2015-07-06 07:21:04 +0000 UTC]

Then the Mane 6 would be the Unicorn 6. What makes you think 6 city unicorns would be the elected ones for been the saviours of Equestria? And what about the real bearers of the elements? You mean they are multiple Chosen Ones in Equestria simultaneously but they only get "ascended" to the role of paladins of ponykind if Twilight stays with them?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pony-kour In reply to MrSpanyard [2015-07-06 15:04:21 +0000 UTC]

Nobody said the elements had to represent all the races equally. What I mean is maybe there aren't any "chosen ones" at all. Perhaps the Elements would've connected to any group of six friends who happened to exemplify the six virtues in a time of need.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MrSpanyard In reply to Pony-kour [2015-07-06 15:33:47 +0000 UTC]

That would be a very bad way to represent the egalitarian society on which the ponies in Equestria live.

For example, try to show how cosmopolite and open a country is if all the leaders, heroes or important figures are just from the same race. And so are the paladins of said country.
And the elements were connected to Luna and Celestia before Twiley & co. Those are 2 ponies, not 6 (although possessing the traits of all three races).

Pony-kour In reply to MrSpanyard [2015-07-06 18:44:43 +0000 UTC]

Hey, nobody said the elements had foresight. As for the sisters, maybe the elements aren't picky about numbers if they're needed to eliminate some great evil.
