Description Another request for a good guy on the Nsider forums, WindWaker4. Easily the first one to feel like I actually achieved something. A DEFINITE step above my last attempt at Ivy from Soul Calibur [link] Don't get me wrong, it has a nice effect, but this time I've been far more accurate with her Soul Calibur II costume, and the anatomy is much nicer. I did use references from her poses in Soul Calibur III art and it shows.

The Lizardman was another story entirely. What little reference images I could find, none had him in the pose I wanted. So this is all original, I had to think of how he'd look at this angle. I'm impressed, creating a character in a non "head on" situation is tricky for me. I think I pulled it off. Not to mention his coloring. He's almost completely marker, aside from a blue colored pencil, while Ivy is completely colored pencil with a marker backing.

All in all, I like it, and that's been hard to say of what I've been doing recently. Maybe I'm back. I'm not sure, but it's nice to see something turn out nicely for a change. Even my scanner decided not to screw me too bad.

Enjoy

I fully sympathize with the "artists block;" it's crazy-making when it sets in, and it's always a tremendous relief when the muse puts in an return appearance!

This is an awesome piece: very nice perspective and figure work, and I agree that the shading and coloring is wonderful! Sometimes it can be a great skill-building exercise to draw a character in a previously unseen pose/perspective--it challenges the mind and the eye, and that can be a very good thing! Everything looks great in this!

Quite true. I had a small case of that myself. Sometimes just leaving and coming back can allow one to appreciate what they can do. Learned that today in small fashion.

I am pretty proud of the Lizard. That was pure me with him, I didn't really plan him out and just did it. Normally that ends in disaster, but he came out very nicely.

Thanks!

It looks awesome. Nicely done. Especially on the shading. I like how the front of her is in darkness and we just get a hint of color. Very effective. She's far too bad-arse in the Soul Calibur games to be good, I always thought.

Yeah, that came out pretty well for just trying things out. Totally just winged the Lizard with markers flying and pencils breaking! XD

Meh, not as much as you'd think. My mom asked to see what I was drawing! XD That was an awkward converstation.
