Description
You guys knew I'll be doing this, am I right?Okay, let's get a couple of things straight: You know I'm a TOS purist and I'd pay real money to see the unadulterated 1701 in Discovery. I also know it won't happen. Audience these days wants an Enterprise designed by an art student, not an aircraft engineer.
Does this mean I dislike this incarnation of the Enterprise? Abso-friggin-lutely NO! I like this update, I think it's the third best Enterprise after the real deal and the refit. It took elements of both of these, with even hints of the Franz Joseph interpretation. This is a 1701 I could imagine being refitted after the Five-Year Mission and still remaining the same ship.
It took me a week to build this beauty. I had to balance my free time and stretch it to unhealthy levels. Yeah, I'm over thirty, the lack of sleep does take its toll. Who cares, I managed to build this thing. I was lucky to wait till a top shot of the filming model appeared, so I didn't have to rebuild my model, like I'm sure all of those who were all too impatient are doing now. Also, I used a lot of color and contrast corrected screencaps, stretching the old Mk. I Eyeball to its utmost limits, to find details others have missed: the phasers on the very bottom of the lower saucer, the same position the TOS Enterprise fired its blue beams from. The dual inset circular photorp launchers. Bits and pieces, and I still think I'll have to revotk it once more data becomes available. Then again, I am firmly of the opinion that as of the publishing of this image, my model is the most accurate apart from the original TV CGI model, of course.
I will release this model, just give me some time to rest. Building it took out my dilithium matrix and my inner Scotty is screaming about his poor bairns
Model by me

At the end of Discovery's Season One finale, the Enterprise shows up.
This is their version

I know. I can't watch STD, and I won't accept that thing (as attractive as it may be) as my canon Connie.
BTW...your work on it is phenomenal. Live long!

Vastly better in every way than the Abrams-Church Enterprise. I had my issues with Discovery but they earned a LOT of bonus points for this update.

(Screams internally) I have been waiting for this. As usual your art doesn't disappoint. Great job!
Oh and just in case you didn't already know, Anson Mount is playing captain pike. He looks almost exactly like Jeffrey Hunter.

Oh damn, any sexier and you'd have to age restrict this.

Aye, that's what I suspect too. This is the EnterpriseΒ as she was first built, with the Second Pilot version being her first major refit, TOS being a comparatively minor refit, and TMP being a second refit that like the first makes the real world USSΒ Midway'sΒ look like a paint job.
It'd also helps explain why she was being retired at only 40 years old in Star Trek III, her keel might not have been able to take another refit.

What I meant is, from a visual point of view, this design could be refitted into the movie one much easily.

Funny how the admiral in Star Trek III said that the enterprise is 20 years old even though the ship is clearly 40 years old. 2245-2285

Maybe he was referring to the 2265 refit given the number of changes made between DSC and TOS?
Or he misspoke.Β

Seeing that come from the very person whose work drove me to take up Star Trek 3D modeling myself is really inspiring.
