Description
I based this one on a Doug Drexler render, I think. I always find funny most of this scenes involve the Enterprise fleeing from the Borg Cubes. Come on, people, it's the Enterprise! Picard knows the Borg better than anyone! He knows their weak spots, their lapses in defence! So let's give the good Captain some credit and let's watch as he unleashes his badassdomModels by me

Great piece and good point!
BTW, did you make the Borg cutting beam or get it someplace? I'm always looking for good png fx like that.Β

I don't know. They would first have to catch them. Gundam's may not have warp drive, but have excellent short range speed. Plus, because of how small they are, they could get into spaces on the cube and do damage. Plus many Gundams could be converted to use physical weapons instead of energy if needed.

To be fair, Enterprise spent the second half of "Best of Both Worlds" and the first half of "Descent" charging directly at the Borg.Β
You know, I always thought Enterprise could have destroyed that cube in "Q Who" if Picard had pressed their initial attack.Β Enterprise's main phasers visibly obliterated 20% of that ship, which really seemed to make the Borg think twice about who they were messing with.Β
That said, really good work!Β

ENTERPRISE D TRIES TO IMPRESS THE ORIGINAL ENTERPRISE
Enterprise D: Hey, Connie! Guess what? I went toe to toe with a giant space monster. It latched onto my back, thought I was it's mama!
Enterprise NCC-1701: Is that quite so, Dee? Well I was grasped by the hand of a Greek god. A real ship would have gone through something like that.
*Later*
Enterprise D: Connie! I just downed two Klingon Birds of Prey! It was hard, but I pulled through!
Enterprise NCC-1701: Hmm? I destroyed three Klingon battle cruisers in one engagement. A real ship would have at least one engagement like that under her girdle.
*Later still*
Enterprise D: CONNIE! I went head to head with a Borg Cube!!! My hull's cut to ribbons, half the crew are dead or injured, but I did it! What do you think about THAT?
Enterprise NCC-1701: I survived direct hits from a planet-destroying, ship-absorbing, people-assimiliating vessel that may well be related to the Borg and was untouched even after it exploded around me. Natch.
*Yet later still*
Enterprise D: CONNIE!!!! I just saved all of reality, battled back a dark mirror version of myself, blew up a rogue Romulan Warbird and looked good doing it! What do you think about THAT?!
Enterprise NCC-1701: I think, Dee... if I hadn't been pushing you, you wouldn't have done half of that.
Enterprise D: *Groans*

It will never work if you push the Communism angle.
Even Hollywood bigwigs like their freedom and the thought that your life doesn't belong to you after the 24th century will rub them the wrong way.
Socialism may be an easier swallow, but I would just use the term egalitarian.

Nahh, it's more like the Polaris is filled with tons of Eastern European and Soviet references. Don't forget, in the Polarisverse, Communism is a thing of the past on Earth, long overtaken by Crippsian Progressivism. But from a real-life perspective, I sprinkled this 'Verse with references I think most would miss. For example, the Polaris is of the Pallada class. The real-world Pallada class was a protected cruiser of the WWI era. Its second ship, the Aurora launched the Bolshevik Revolution in 1971. The USS Pallada NCC-780's sister ship is called USS Aurora

Knowing Picard and the French, he's likely to retreat in such a way to make the Cube run into some horrible trap that will make the Tal'shiar think it was underhanded, the Klingon say it was too ferocious, and both agree the Borg had it coming.
I mean, Napoleon may be Corsican by birth, but his education was French, and he was rather artillery-happy...

What the later iterations of the Starship Enterprise have all needed is a MARDET (MARine DETachment) to handle pesky boarding/counter-boarding operations (handy when dealing with the Borg), and make Worf a Marine (he'd fit right in)...
