I'm using 3DS Max and Photoshop. When building a modle, I'm using orthographical shots/renders/drawings, and all the reference material I can get my hands on. Lots of trial and error, even more cutting corners which is not visible on the finished model.

Just goes to show that even after fifty years, the TOS design can still look visually impressive.
That said, I can understand why the studios have been trying to update the design...it's foolish to assume it can withstand the test of time forever, at least in the eyes of the greater audience. Trek can't always be just fan serve--a good production is always trying to bring in new viewers, not just coast with the old and already established viewership.
Besides...Trek's always been about looking ahead, not living stuck in the past.
But I digress. Point is, nice pic.

Yeah, I agree. I wish they could have kept the original design, adding some details and a new Aztec pattern... but times, they are a-changing...

One of the choices I really like about this version of the connie is that they got rid of the inward curve on the dorsal surface of the saucer, It never really made much sense beyond looking cool to be honest.

It's not a bad reimagining...
But this comes from someone who thinks the Kelvin Timeline Enterprise is alright. So take that as you will.
