This was my favorite version of the Enterprise. To this day I am still miffed Playmates never made a toy of it.

You actually got the Deflector Dish color right.Β Most seem to forget this, defaulting to the blue color.Β Something Nick Meyer forgot when making Wrath of Khan, the dish is only blue when in operation (specifically, while at warp).

IT's weird we never got to see the orange deflector. It looked nice, mirroring the bronze of the original TOS "radar" dish.

Its one of the many details about The Motion Picture that had been forgotten, despite how apparently painstaking they were if you really look deep and analyze what is on screen.Β The only thing I would change about TMP (design-wise) is the uniforms

Yeah I like the red and black uniforms Meyer went with for ST2. The thing that always got was when Kirk had McCoy beamed up and he looked like he was at a disco-tech. The ship was awesome and I remember the Enterprise being slapped all over the McDonaldβs Happy Meal box when the movie came out.

While I do like the look of the ST2 uniforms, I feel they are too much for duty uniforms. They are instead what I would expect for ceremonial dress, like Marine Corps Dress Blues.Β Β

I didn't see it in the theater unfortunately, I saw it when dad brought home the VHS take he purchased, and it came with the teaser trailer for TNG at the beginning of it (the one with all the movie stock footage and incomplete warp jump effect)

Is the frame enough to consider TOS and TMP Enterprise to be the same ship? Having a top to bottom refit creates the Ship Of Theseus problem. The refit could've easily had been a retcon or least partly, meaning no in story reason to why The Enterprise looks different than the producers had more money and wanted to redesign everything so it would look nice on the big screen and the characters don't notice the difference, to them it's always looked this way like they did in Discovery.

Stop me if I'm wrong, but... didn't he say "Thrusters ahead, Mr. Sulu"?Β Ahh yes, the "Maneuvering Thrusters" command was before "Hold station" after which all the running lights turned on.Β I don't know why, but one of my favorite Sulu responses has always been "Thrusters at station keeping, sir"
