You would think that by that time Jupiter would've gotten a new station. Also, the Enterprise should probably stay away from Io.

Well, it's the TNG era Jupiter Station.
What happened to Io?

Wasn't Io where the Monolith from Space Odessey is? Anyway My point is there is a shortening amount of planets humans can go to these days. lol
The Moon has zombies (Call of Duty: Black Ops), Mars/Phobos/Deimos has Demons (Doom), and Io has the Monolith.

If you ever decide to revise this in the near future, I can contact Andrew Probert and see if he has any high quality plans, since he was the designer of this Enterprise...

I worked out of high-res photos taken from the filming miniature.
Here, you might find this package useful:

What would you say the hardest part of this model was?

thefirstfleet In reply to ChrissonatorOFL [2011-10-06 22:51:05 +0000 UTC]
The neck and the engineering hull. The flar, curved surfaces were a headache. The neck was vicious to shape! Laying out the windows and the lifeboats was also hard, not that it required too much energy, but it was a long, repetitive process.

Personally, I would try building the neck using a spline cage... if one could get cross sections of each deck, like they did for the models in the TOS-R... and then connect them and stuff, make a really nice neck with little effort, minus the windows, etc.

I have absolutely no idea how to build a spline cage. I usually work with primitives, you know, boxes and spheres and cylinders and such and transform the livign f**k out of them
I use splines on some saucers and, in the case of the Galaxy model, the hangar deck on the saucer. Nigh impossible to build out of primitives, I'm telling you...

haha, I've been giving some go at it... it's a matter of getting the splines to look right, for the neck, I'd prolly use a 4 sided box, and set the vertices to bΓ©zier... so you can control both sides... rather than trying to draw a spline line... I'll do that, and see what I come up with, because in those plans they practically have a deck by deck cut section...

Did you tweak the Galaxy model since yesterday's upload? It looks different somehow. Also, your Jupiter Station is very nicely done. Doc Zimmerman would be proud...that is in his own miserable way.

I only cut the saucer separation lines, nothing else (and no, it's just the lines, not the capability ).

LOL, they should make a crossover with the big working class/rapper film, caling it 88 Mile.
OK, I'm tired
