Description
The USS Spaker fights off two Klingon birds of prey that have crossed into Starbase 84's patrol zone. All attempts to communicate with the Klingon vessels had failed and its good will gesture of no shields were met with a damaging starboard side strike. The Spaker was left as a wreck with no survivors but did get a message to SB84 that it was under attack by Klingon forces.

The Klingons had sent interdiction forces to press for any Starfleet weak spots in an attempt for a retaliation against an unknown fleet of federation vessels that had struck the Empire deep within its territory. They were mainly older ships and the Federation had consistently denied that it had sent ships into the Empire for a full scale attack. The unknown force had dispersed before warships could get there.

Unbeknownst to Starfleet at the time Admiral Jenson had abandoned Starfleet and organised a private little war which would cost Starfleet thousands of lives.
