Description *edit* I've had a few people and Groups mention there being too much 'noise' in this photo. It's deliberate. So is the texture treatment. *end edit*

MUSIC LINK: LISTEN TO THIS WHILE LOOKING AT THE PHOTO IN FULL VIEW. IT'S FUN!

The disorder 'epilepsy' has had 100's of names over the centuries. Most of them start with the Latin word 'Morbus'.

It has been referred to as 'Morbus Demoniacus', or the 'Demon's Disease'.

A few hundred years later, it was referred to as 'Morbus Sacer', or the 'Sacred Disease'.

Disregarding epilepsy altogether, I chose to title this piece 'The Sacred Disease'.

And if you like NIN, try listening to the suggested track, preferably ALL the way till the end [the build-up does a lot]

And thank you very much.

I love the mood. The golden hues keep this from being brooding, but the graininess makes it feel dream like to me.

I definitely feel the grain texture added something special... keeps it from being "run-of-the-mill". Stay inspired.

Sacred, emotive, almost like an ancient painting, perfect lightning, the colouring....everything matches with each other (even the music: bit noisy too )

There's only one thing missing.....a DD

this is soo friggin beautiful.

apart from the architecture, i love how you captured this
golden shine around it. makes it look majestic and divine,
even though it's name sounds unholy.

jonight In reply to TheFulkrum [2010-10-22 10:10:41 +0000 UTC]

no worries. it's just coz it was called the 'demon's disease' and it still has the word 'disease' so it feels kinda unholy to me. D;

Hey, you're the artist, not the viewer. In the absence of the viewer's understanding it is the art and the expression of the artist that it represents that you have to concern yourself with. Noise or no noise, this is an excellent image!

I had a reviewer for a photo group actually admit to me that he turned my latest submission down simply because he "doesn't like" the HDR process. That choice wasn't about art. It was about personal preference, which is something that art reviewers have to continually challenge themselves with because art is NOT about that which always makes you comfortable.

Great job. Keep it up!

"this is an excellent image!"
appreciate it

Yes, the 'eye of the beholder' philosophy seems long forgotten. Irony just has it that I seem to be the beholder who really likes this work! Ha! And the fact that I didn't start off intending to create any sort of HDR makes me laugh a little. Kudos to the Groups who actually considered this.

And thank you!
