From the Codex Wallerstein, dated between the 1420s and 1470s and compiled in 1556.Includes treatises in long sword, messers, and daggers as well as unarmed striking and grappling and armored combat specific to the martial tradition of the Nuremburg Group in Germany at the time. Both author and illustrator for this codex are currently unknown.

Yes, it's a takedown meant to get the opponent within grappling range and potentially within dagger range. It is risky to attempt since you need to drop your own weapon but if you act quick enough and bring the opponent down, the swords become useless.
