Sorry that this review is so late, I expect your technique has improved by now but as the request is still here, I though I'd give my two cents on what I think.
For starters; the angle is unique and I really like how you added depth to the piece using shading and 3D objects (which are very tricky to draw from my experience). I really like the simplicity on the right due to it making Commodus pop out. You've captured his appearance excellently; the clothing looks exquisite, his skin looks smooth and clear, his hair has a great texture and he has all of the facial features from the film. You showing his torso and upper legs makes him appear more mighty and more of an imposing figure in my opinion which I like. The shading on the face looks a little off (e.g. could use more on the left side of his face and less on his right). The right side of the stairs could also use more colour to make the piece even more detailed.
However the way you drew the creases and detail on the clothing is impressive. The way you made his right hand stick out is fantastic and I like the pose. The translucent appearance of the drapes is very well realised and well captured. The marble looks realistic too with slight dents put in place which the piece a really authentic feel. The shining gold is really pleasant to the eyes.
Overall it is an excellent piece and it looks very nice.

This picture from Commodus is great! I like the details and especially the eyes.
I don't know why, no one understood it, but I really felt sorry for him in Gladiator.

It's such, such, such geat!!!!!
Yeah, he was a spoiled, cruel man, but it was because he desperately wanted his father's love and, I think, it was also a result of that society, where assassinating even members of a family happened everyday

Ah, yes, the dude who brought a rubber knife to the arena. Nice pic, I wish I had the patience to put that much work into period armor and such, but I read the other day that laziness runs in families. Since it's genetic, it ain't my fault.
Good color choices, too. Love that coppery color.

Eeek, so awesome!! I absolutely love that movie, especially with all the detailed, wonderful costumes and the vivid colors of the higher-ups. I've dreamed of doing "Gladiator" fanart, but have been too lazy to even try.

Oh yes, that is true . . . However, there are things that I've had phases of that I still love to death, but just haven't really felt like drawing from anymore.

Not too long ago it was "Harry Potter" (I'm just feeling more in the mood to draw my OCs, though) and now it is "Inception".

Ohhh Inception was a badass movie. Crazy ending right?
I just saw Scott Pilgrim vs The World
have you seen that? its reallly good
Oh and its always good to work on OC's - the more you draw em the more you learn about em

Moyayuki In reply to theharmine [2010-08-24 00:12:26 +0000 UTC]
"Inception" is awesome-sauce-on-crack, especially in IMAX!
Nope, haven't seen that, but it looks insane and super-stylized.
I do need to draw my OCs more often. I love them too much to permanently abandon them.
