Thank you! I'm glad you like it!

I considered Deedlit to be more of a fan costume than a resemblance and fandom one, if that makes any sense? Maybe exceeded my expectations.

Of course! Well, you did an excellent job. It's hard to pull off her fair skin and extremely long legs. And you did it very well!

Good work on the Deed Cosplay.

Deed has always been my Favorite character. Just Wish Parn would say something to her.

Good work.

Thank you! ♥

I feel the same about Parn! He's a nice guy, but sometimes I wonder why Deedlit is attracted to him. I suppose he represents the Everyman who wants to level up and get the dream girl...

There are a lot of things like this especially in the fantasy genre. It's a charming theme. Good times!

Ah yes, you mentioned that shoot. So you really just walked around as Deedlit?

Haha, no, I didn't really walk here and there. We just went to a certain park I think yo also recently Liked on Facebook? But there were people there, I wasn't expecting that. We planned to go at a time there wouldn't be people. But it made things more interesting. There was a bit of conversation, invitations.

Ooooo. That sounds like an interesting day! so good to break usual routines sometimes!
Your recent shoot kinda got me into talking to Ken about shoots. I'm never invited to one, but I feel that it would be rude if I ask to be. It was also a chance to get some cosplay critique. While my cosplays are alright, Ken said that nothing stands out about them (thus I'm terrible for single shots). It makes me want to reconsider what really is a "job well done". I agree with him on this matter, but some cosplays really have nothing else that I can add w/o it becoming unnecessary. For example, I am entering a certain cosplay into the contest (might not want to tell which one it is because you will be a judge) because it is better than 80% of what I saw when I searched for photos of that cosplay. But would anyone be interested in seeing single shoots of that cosplay? perhaps not.

Besides, I feel that being at a shoot will be unfair to other cosplayers like you who work much harder than I do to make a good cosplay.

In the end I just have a bad experience with ruining something good just because I wanted to add detail.

But maybe it's my own cowardice lol

I think sometime during Freecon (Like after the contest?) Ken will be photographing. Also, keep track of him here if you don't already! He does shoots and advertises where he'll be.

What Ken says about costumes is something that might need to be taken very seriously. Perhaps it is the types of characters you are drawn to? Some characters might look really cool in the media they come from but it takes hard work to make them stand out. Say a character wears a suit. Don't just sew a suit or buy one. Consider what makes that suit look so damned good on the character's body. Do the shoulders look a little padded, does the waist taper? Did you look at reference material when styling your hair and so on. Be that character, don't just sort of imitate.

Photographing makes you more confident and forces you to be more aligned with a character? I have a hard time being a character, but a costume does tint my intereactions. That makes the illusion better. For example, I've seen Zeldas that look beautiful but their body language and so on makes me feel that I'm not looking at Zelda! The illusion is not there. A lot of cosplayers don't take this part seriously and I think they'd be more awesome if they did to some degree. And even with a costume that "doesn't stand out" you will photograph better if you are the character.

Try to photograph yourself, act as if it is a real shoot. That will improve your photos when the time comes for the "real deal".

You are on a good track I think. You sound more serious about improving than some regional cosplayers...

I'm looking forward to the costume contest! I didn't know if I would be judging anymore, but it looks like my place is still secure. I really enjoy judging. I don't see a problem with looking at your work before the contest. This is what I did at EXP Con during pre-judging, it gives me a better idea of how much work went into something. But some people may be against this process. So maybe I will abstain from peeking at your work until I know what is wanted of me this time...

I totally agree. I used to act, so I use my old skills, and when I put on a cosplay, I think..."Wolfwood wouldn't walk into the center of a room and wave...NO...he'd slip in, quietly, and lean against a wall"

I cannot make my cosplays the best, so I do indeed add things that seem like something that the character would do (for example, I am carrying a cat plushie for Sebastian, I am trying to come up w/ better examples).

Yes!! Use your acting skills! That's pretty cool.

No one can be "the best" but let's be the best we can be. Or the best that time allows us... I'd probably be better if I didn't have so much I was into. Like slacking off on the internet. :/

Thank you! I've shared a few of the same experiences as my cosplay characters in one way or another, so that has helped me a bit to get in character.

I try to be the best I can be, I always want to leave people with a good impression. If I'm not the best dressed Wolfwood, or Link, I am confident that someone can walk away smiling, bc they met the coolest Wolfwood, or the funniest Link.
