Description
A really old drawing! I patched this up a little just so that I could upload it. I have it, so why not?As I was "patching this up", I was trying to come with a title. All I could think of was, "Zelda, get out of the tree!" I think it's because I originally had other intentions for the main part of the drawing that would have made that title more relevant. I thought this less ceremonial version of her normal outfit looked very relaxed. It's just minus her armor, belt and "banner". I might remake my own costume to be neater and so I can wear it like this, too.

Aw, thanks! But jealousy?! That isn't good. Keep practicing, drawing from life and you'll pass me quickly! I'm quite serious.

Thank you!!
Sorry for my delay (to all here, really.). I've been embarrassed of this picture, but I feel better seeing how many people like it.
I've wondered if I should redo it...But then I might as well make new Zelda pictures.

I love this relaxed, lounging (yet still with natural grace and elegance) look. ^^ This picture seems to treat her as a real person, probably partially because it proves the different layers of her dress and armor aren't part of her permanent being! I bet she would love being up in a tree =3 She probably is reminiscing about being Sheik for so long =O

Wow, I really appreciate that detailed thinking! Thank you!
I love her armor, but I think of it as being possibly ceremonial wear. And I believe as a child she was a tomboy. Being Sheik, I'm sure she would've known trees well. So tree-climbing seemed right for her.
But I wonder, how'd she climb it? Hope she was wearing something modest!

In the Link the the Past manga, she only wears that armor and outfit at the ending ceremony, so I think that idea about her armor being ceremonial makes a lot of sense! And makes for a lovely picture. =3
Teehee, I hope so, too! (pssst, are you LDS? I usually don't find that non-LDS people use modest in reference to clothing as much...but you could be the one to show me differently, lol!)

If I understand your meaning of LDS, no, I'm not (But if you rearrange those letters, they will apply to me in a very different way!). I guess I'm an appreciator of modesty. I'm not really sure where it came from. My interest in fashion history and a lack of being in touch with my culture has put me into a situation where I see pictures of people in five layers of clothes more than I see people in shorts. I sometimes get startled by summer fashion!
Now I'm a little curious, and I hope I am not prying--are you LDS?

Teehee, yes, I am LDS (member of the Church of Jese Christ of Latter-Day Saints aka "Mormon" ). It's not prying at all, as I asked first!
I know exactly what you mean. I adore fashion history, especially 1830s-1915-ish, lol. I believe turn-of-the-century clothing is just incredibly gorgeous, before it it started slipping fully into the "flapper phase." Not that there's anything wrong with flapper style; it's just not my favorite. ^^ I always like to wear layers of clothing to ensure modesty anyway, lol! Even in the summer heat @_@
^_^ I know what you mean about lack of being in touch with culture, too. Besides just being that kind of type, lol, I homeschooled from 3rd grade to 7th grade, and never got quite back fully into the "worldly interests" music and clothes and otherwise. Though I'm almost a junior in college now, so things have had time to change a little But I think at heart, I'll always be the twelve-year-old-kid who started going back to school and didn't know what any of the dirty phrases or pop culture fads even meant.

I realized after I typed what I'd said about prying that I was sleepy (as I tend to be when I'm on the internet, bad idea?). Oops!
It's funny wearing modest clothes (or modest AND dark clothes as I do) because the reactions to them are often repetitive. My thinking is that if it's hot, you're always going to be hot no matter what you wear. As long as you aren't wearing a parka and it's 95 degrees, there is no problem.

I always consider capris and a tee (so long as it doesn't pull up or be cut low or sleeveless) to be modest, and even though I live somewhere hot, I don't struggle too much with the heat. ^^

so beautiful!
nice idea to make her without her armor or dress details, also her clothes must be hot on summer. = 3
