I'm assuming you've never seen what actually happens when a grown man hits a woman. It's not like in modern movies where women are depicted as being as physically strong if not stronger than men.

True....until a punch lands. There's a reason why there are separate divisions for men's and women's sports, including things like boxing and MMA.

Fair point, I admit, and I am one of the first to roll my eyes when people try to apply real world logic and rules to a fictional setting when we've already accepted that the normal rules we live by don't apply. Furthermore, while I will freely admit to being what the feminists would call a sexist pig, I don't have a problem with a female being physically superior to men or an individual man, so long as there is a contextual explanation for it. Supergirl laying waste to a crowd of male Earthlings, for instance. It's when (to keep that example), she is also portrayed as stronger or faster than male Kryptonians, when there's no explanation that the Kryptonian men evolved as the physically more fragile gender, that I get upset.

Kitana and Sub Zero are both "superhuman" so to speak, therefore the playing field should be levelled. The contest should be equivalent to pitting the men's MMA champion against the women's MMA champion in which case you would see a result similar to this one, even though the woman in question would undoubtedly mop the floor with most untrained men. Now, if we were to see, for example, Kitana vs Johnny Cage ( an otherwise "ordinary" human male, albeit a trained martial artist) and assume that Edenians are physically superior to humans (not much of a stretch since we already know they have much longer lifespans) then I would be fine with the idea that Kitana could hold her own or even beat him.

All that aside though, the commissioner did mention that, due to funding limitations, we only got to see the end of the fight, where Subby took decisive control of the match, and missed the earlier stages of the fight, in which Kitana was doing much better, before Sub Zero tagged her with the ice glob to the face, which turned the tide in his favour.
