SO if you follow me on twitter you saw that I totally botched the first piece...So this is the second one, it's a bit smaller and I'm doing things a bit differently.
First I redrew the entire thing including finishing the flowers, making her eyes more life like and tweaking the entire bone structure.
I'm still painting on paper but I switched to a greenish-grey tone of Rives bfk rather then the white I started with.
I also started with a watercolor base coat.
AND so far there is NO color pencil, it's all those water-soluble wax pastels I mention in my prior post (the red piece, not the sexy chef)
I'm pretty confident I'll nail the skin tone now, but I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do with the flowers...we'll see I guess, I'll get to em soon.

Ohhh myyyy god.... I just cannot understand how you can get the coloring so smooth! I have tried so many several times and I still cannot create the effect of yours not even close. Anyway, love the colors of it and the overall feel, can't wait to see it finished

Those are some pricey pastels! Are you still using the blending stump mostly or the water? (I see the wet brush and a hairdryer I think...)

on the flowers I think as a non artist that a petrol-turquoise would look good, with some old pink would maybe look good, and somewhere some light green.
this one looks more alive then the first one, I still like that one, itΒ΄s just another style entirley, itΒ΄s

I would love to try your technique! but I'm not sure what media exactly are these... so is this like a normal cardboard and watercolor for the base and wax pastels later? Sorry to bother you

Yeah it's paper, then with a watercolor base, then the wax pastels.

i loved the first version a little more, i think because the look in the first one was personal or had a connection with the viewer and had a more mystical look. Don't get me wrong i still love this piece

Wow, this is coming along so damn nice! You really are up there with the likes of Rolf Armstrong, Gil Elvgren, and Alberto Vargas with this piece. But with your distinct style and flavor. Fucking amazing!
