Description
I finally got my work back from the October shows, now I'm in the process of scanning all the images. This part sucks because I have a tiny scanner and work way to large.oh well, here is the first image I've scanned
it's 20"x31", done on Stonehenge printmaking paper mounted to masonite
I used watercolors for a base coat then rendered the skin with prismacolor pencils
after that I busted out the house paint (Behr) for the sea and sky
then I moved on to the hair with marker and a bit if acrylic
I finished it up with washes of water based oil

That is incredible- I thought it was Digital at first. And very creative use of media, too.
I really love the way the neck folds, and how believable her face looks. The little details make this very realistic.

You know, I've never known anyone to use house paint for their work. A lot of different things you used for coloring this piece, you must know your stuff to have done it like this. I have to ask though, wouldn't it've been easier doing the housepaint part before the prismacolor pencils, or would that've messed up the surface for the pencils? Also, does the hair include that ship?

When I first saw it, I remembered something about how sailors used to think of the ship as their mother and this just really, I guess, represented that in my head.
It's lovely! I think the colors are really good.

Wow, very cool.
I don't know if this helps but have you thought of going to a digital printing place? A lot of the time they have A0 scanners, or at least they could let you know of somewhere which has one. Although, you can't tell you've used a small scanner!
