Arwen's chase dress is my favourite costume from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. There have been many times I've mused on creating the costume, but I could never bring myself to justify the cost. The average person doesn't wear fantasy costumes in public....so I've been playing with the idea of updating the costume into a more modern piece. Although I took a bit more of a fashion approach to it, here's the final result!

(I took the two parts I loved the most (the sleeves and collar) and designed them into a blazer. I took out the corset lacing in the front and replaced it with a medium-sized belt, but clasped together with the elven buckle from the original costume. The skirt is made out of the same fabric to match the undersleeve to give it a fuller effect when one walks. Coupled with a modern hairstyle and good pair of Louboutins and voila!) (2009)
