It's easy to be a "Christian".

It's easy to walk around with a label on your forehead that says "I love Jesus". At least, in a country like America, where we don't have people wanting to kill us for our beliefs (in the government, at least). It's easy to run around going, "Jesus is the answer, and I found Him! You should too, so you'll have what I have in Him! Love, peace, joy..."

...But really, do we have that?

We may talk about Him, but do we talk to Him? Do we strive to show others we love them for Christ, or do we love Christ so much that we can't help but love others? Do we seek Him? Do we abide in Him? Do we listen and understand and obey, or do we give an "Amen!" and then go back to our jobs and videogames and Netflix?

I feel like I've been that Christian lately.

I've felt unworthy for being distracted. I've felt like I let him down by giving my time and my affection and my energy to lesser things.

But He says He's still pleased with me.

He sees my weakness, and He still loves me. And it's still something hard for me to understand.

I want Christ to have my heart again. I want it to be like it was when I first found out He could give me the destiny and the purpose I longed for, when everything was new and it filled me with wonder and awe. It was empowering, encouraging. In this world, with its stresses and woes, we grow tired and weary. Sometimes, we want to give in, and just want it to end, because we know this world has nothing for us. But we're not here for ourselves. We're here to know Christ in this life and to bring others to Him before it's too late. We're here to overcome the world, to live as if the enemy can't touch us, because we know the God who will one day take us up from all of this. Only He can truly satisfy the desires we have deep down inside of us. Only He can love us as unconditionally as He does, and He will never leave us, or hold high standards over our heads, or grow bored and tired of us. He simply asks us to love Him because He loves us so. Is that so hard to do?

I want to return to my first love. The One who first loved me.
