Description "The horizon is painted purple and an alien landscape dominates the scenery as you take the first step outside. This planet has been taken by the amalgamate. A layer of the viscous oil like goo gives resistance under your feet on each step as you pull the gas mask over your face tighter. A film of dark haze covers the ground and makes way as you walk forwards, the ground seeming to constantly shift and move beneath. Above in the sky a thick layer of similar colored clouds fill the sky, the sun peeking from below them, a stagnant unmovable mist fills the air. Looking around the environment things seem faintly familiar but hopelessly unrecognizable as the amalgamate has built itself upon everything. Massive pillars reaching towards the sky to leech on the sun above the low hanging clouds and mist. More of the amalgamate seems to constantly ooze from the innumerable crevices and holes within the plants, the amalgamate still seemingly working on converting the organic matter underground. How long were you asleep? Some of the amalgamate forms remain in the landscape, moving around almost aimlessly, even though they could sense you, they take no notice, but you decide to stay out of their way anyway. Clearly they too know that there is nothing you could do to the amalgamate at this point. The presence of these wandering creatures seeming almost as pointless as yours. The only hope now is that some of the members of your species made it out into space and are heading to another planets. You sigh as humid fog gathers inside the mask as you sit down to wait for the inevitable while staring at the oddly beautiful bioluminescent plants."

This is basically a view to what a planet would look like once the amalgamate has taken over the majority of it.

Strangely it is beautiful to look at in a twisted way... Something so unfamiliar its ailing to examine and admire.

nice work on this and the little back story, it's come out very well.

Thanks RedLightning Don't get too tempted to go and explore though or you may meet your untimely demise in the hands of the amalgamate

I AM DEATH INCARNATED! HAHAHAHAH

heheh Nooo I don't think I would, however I was contemplating using some Blitzburg nano suits to explore the species.
Like crisis suits except a little less advance with only strength and armour.

I need to finish those two other amalgate stories first ^.=.^;

haha, those could work too, but with the amount of the amalgamate that there is you'd have to be very careful for any deep pools of the amalgamate, as even with the protective suit the amalgamate could just bury you beneath its mass, making you unable to move. Oh yeah, get back to them when you have some time, looking forward to reading the next chapter

Hmmm maybe I should write one in space ship? *ponders it* Ga there so much possibility with the Amalgamate but to sit down and come up with a plot is complicated without making it unrealistic

I know right! You could use that other spaceship amalgamate incident I drew as a basis for inspiration if you wish

Damn... It's at about this point you might as well go do the stuff you always wanted to. It's your last day on the planet. Unless you wanted to try the arduous and never-ending challenge that is surviving in the new world. Great piece man, I especially like the towering structures in the background which I can only assume are absorbing the solar energy? Regardless, awesome work.

ThemeFinland In reply to Draconian-Man [2016-05-21 10:37:04 +0000 UTC]

Aye, though I would imagine trying to survive in this new world would turn to be nigh impossible for anyone not part of the amalgamate itself. There would be barely any safe edible food apart from the things that may be stashed inside bunkers that are hidden away and which are probably already covered by the amalgamate goo. The air would of course would be unbreathable without the proper equipment to filter out all the spores and small amalgamate particles in it. Not to mention moving in the environment would be difficult and treacherous due to the hidden brooding pools that would sink you in the if you took one small misstep.

Yeah, the towering amalgamate pillars in the horizon are large amalgamate structures that are created once the planet is terraformed to the stage when the sun cannot penetrate the mist of amalgamate particles that linger near the surface. These structures reach up through the clouds and gather the solar energy which they transfer back down to the ground for the amalgamate to use to further grow.

So basically, you're buggered. *chuckles* As is the way with the Amalgamate.

Also, neat, A good way to continue sourcing energy for itself. That Amalgamate if one crafty... Would you say species? I guess so... *shrugs*

ThemeFinland In reply to Draconian-Man [2016-05-22 08:53:15 +0000 UTC]

heh, basically yeah, unless you had some undergound biodome, oh or something up in the sky or in orbit. Though if you had something up in the sky the amalgamate could get to you eventually once it begins to develop flying forms.

Yeah, the unfortunate side effect of all the spores and small particles that the amalgamate fills the air with once it has spread far and wide is that they tend to form clouds that partially block the sun, so the amalgamate has to climb up higher to receive the full energy from the sunlight. Oh and in areas that have volcanic activity the amalgamate can leech energy from the heat sources like geysers and mineral rich hot springs.

I am a bit torn between whether it is a species or an organism, as the amalgamate technically is just the parasitic goop, but for the sake of clarity we can call it a species, heh.

Underground biodome you say...? Best get to work! *starts digging a hole*

Parasitic goop, what a name! Heh, any would work to be honest. But species sounds good to me.

Really impressive. The amalgamate may be hazardous, but's a unique and wonderful environment... Β
I'd live there if it was possible...Β

You can anyways join the amalgamate~ sentience is retained even if your mind no longer loves anything more than to spread and function as part of the amalgamate. 0:3

I'd be willing to join the amalgamate. Adapting and proving my loyalty to the entire species... just like a Xenomorph... Β

Cheers Roland! Living in a wholly assimilated planet would certainly be difficult if you want to avoid becoming consumed by the amalgamate as well.

It would be difficult. But... I'd be wiling to join/be consumed by the amalgamate...

ThemeFinland In reply to RolandLatoreSpeed [2016-05-22 10:40:31 +0000 UTC]

mmm, indeed that way you wouldn't have to worry about the amalgamate anymore, and at this point when the amalgamate has spread throughout the planet you would't have much other choice than to be consumed by the amalgamate and become a part of it. After which you would just have to wait or find a way to get to other planets to assimilate.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RolandLatoreSpeed In reply to ThemeFinland [2016-05-23 05:05:05 +0000 UTC]

Definitely. Wonder how it would feel like once you're consumed by the amalgamate...Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThemeFinland In reply to RolandLatoreSpeed [2016-05-28 10:25:57 +0000 UTC]

Well most amalgamate forms have a urge to spread the amalgamate, so I would imagine you'd feel like wanting to do that in various possible ways that you can with your form. Of course not all forms would do this directly, others would do this indirectly, like growing the brooding pools that already exist or create spores near the broods.
