Description Physical map of Libertas' three major continents Eastern and Western Corvus, and the forbidden continent of Ortos. Lore follows below

This took me much longer than what I had anticipated (the original map being 12000x7000 pixels in size) and with my obsession with details I'm not too keen on calling it finished yet either. Once I finish up some minor details I'll upload the political map as well.

But enough of that, how about some lore? Ortos is the origin of human civilization where humanity mainly remained well into the late bronze age until the first civilizations were driven off and into Corvus. Legends say that the first civilizations were cursed and forbidden from ever returning to their homeland after a greedy king murdered a high priest and set himself as the ruler of man, appointed by the gods themselves, which the gods then responded by creating a plague like no other that turns man into daemons as they slowly lose their minds.

As time passed the weather of the region deteriorated and the seas between Ortos and Corvus was stricken with especially dangerous storms and massive ship-consuming waves which only served to solidify the superstition.

Man did not step foot on the continent until the early 1900s with the development of better, sturdier ships and even then, only archaeologists and military personnel set foot there and only for short periods at a time.

It isn't until 1920 were there any serious attempts at resettling the area. The Kingdom of Amseshara was the first to try by sending 200 mostly unwilling ethnic minorities and those who openly opposed the Crown. however with war looming over the horizon, once the colony effort was set up, it was often neglected and reports from the colony administration were often ignored. Amsesharan officials did not discover that all 200 colonists had mysteriously vanished into the night until two years later when the Ministry of Agriculture sent a ship to investigate after colony administration failed to respond to all attempts at communications once they had noticed the colony failed to send in monthly reports.

The disappearances mixed with poor weather, unsuitable soil and a declaration of war made by its neighboring countries, Amseshara quickly abandoned the colonization project, with all others following suite.

Ortos remained isolated well into the modern age outside from the occasional team of scientists or military personnel, and again, only for short periods of time.
