Thanks.
Yes exactly, they are seperate models combined to make up the body.
It works great for low poly models especially if the model has non-organic parts like armor.
This method was commonly used in old school 3D games like the original Tomb Raider for PC and tons of other earlier 3D games from the PS1 era. It doesn't look very good on more organic characters but it really makes the rigging alot easier both from the artist's and programmer's side and helps lowering the polygon count so that's why it was used commonly back in the day.
This model was done for a contest with a very strick polygon limit so I had to keep the polygon count very low for each part.

would it apply to those with organic bodies, covered with some parts of armor(lets say head and hair, hands and lower torso are exposed, but rest are armor)
can this method be applied well to?

Sure, it can be applied to anything.
Here's how Lara looked like in the original Tomb Raider: tombraidergirl.com/pics/tra/co…

Thanks! I used 3ds Max not Maya, but they belong to the same company which is Autodesk.

This isn't bad; I am, however, surprised about the polygon count. 1000 seems somewhat low.

Main body excluding the two headed eagle logo and the fire effect are just around 1000 polys. Without the scene elements ofcourse.

Thanks man! I really appreciate it.
By the way is your signature a reference to the Silent Hill: The Room?

Kinda, in Silent hill 2:restless dreams there's an obscure wall with it written in blood on old newspapers [link] , the holes in silent hill 4 were inspired by it, and it's sorta a meme that me and other silent hill fans inadvertently started when 2 first came out so the phrase pops up all over the interwebz in strange places nowadays often on broken links or just to fill space.

Yes, now I remember seeing that scene in the game in SH2.
SH2 was better than SH:The Room in my opinion.

I liked them both for very different reasons, I rather enjoyed the first person bits stuck in The Room looking out the window, and 2 had great puzzles
but then I like 3 and homecoming and most people disliked them.

Silent Hill 2 is an artwork in my opinion.
I love Silent Hill 3 too, I was amazing. I really hated Homecoming since Team Japan was not developing it and american developers tried to turn the game into something like action packed resident evil casual gamer style..
The Room was not bad at all, I enjoyed it very much, had great musics too

I know what ya mean homecoming wasn't the same, but i just love the settings anything else i can just ignore. I do love wandering about dark corridors aimlessly exploring tho and the graphics were top notch on my ps3 XD
