While in the air headed for Louisville I saw this cloud booming lightning. I had numerous shots on the ground before take-off but shot this one and thought nothing of it. I looked at it again and something about the colors amazes me. The quality isn't stellar but I really like the way that the clouds came out and it almost apears like a sunset time of day even though it was completely dark. I also like the fact that the lightning is present but not the entire focus of the shot. Tell me what you think. Oh and more lightning shots to come.Related content

i have nenver tryed to shot a lightning, usually what are the optimal shutter speed/f settings? or is this a little secret?

i just tried it. You can read the settings for this shot to the right but generally you want to leave your shutter open for as long as possible.

This is simply amaing. great shot, really. The colors are captured so brilliantly and you rarely see a photo with the lightning going a direction other than the ground because of perspective wise. Amazing job.

Beautiful capture. I love how the clouds are illuminated on the inside, and how it creates a nice bright spot surrounded by darkness when you see this from the thumbnail. I'm glad the noise reduction software helped.
