My reaction to this is the same as with Calvin and Hobbes. I'm floored to see this concept executed, yet again. This time, I'm more drawn into the vibrant colors. Quite eye popping.

I think that it does make sense, in a way. Sure, there is still vibrancy in the saturated colors. But now that I'm taking a second look at the two pieces, this one has a greater range in value. Because there are more areas with highlights in terms of lighting, the shadows appear strong and dark.
