Times had become desperate for the New California Republic, talk of a super-mutant army forming in the north,rumors of the Enclave's resurgences in New Reno and the ever increasing political friction on council hill threatens to destroy the Republic from within. General Alexander Drummund had always turned to the past for answers, this time would be no different. He had almost single handedly turn the NCR from a rag tag militia, into a proper military force that resembled the same might and glory of the army's of days gone bye. Yet it was still not enough, he would need something more then new tactics or weapons, something that might correct the course of the nation as a whole.

Drummund believed the answers might lie in a hellish place were the earth was torn asunder, leaving an eternal scar across a once proud and prospering land. A place largely forgotten in the common mind, "the Divide", an area of vast per-war installations, a slice of a forgotten past. Drummund prayed the ruined treasures of the old world might once again come to deliverance of the new, that once again the old soul of America could be resurrected and the memories of faded might could be reborn and retooled in the service of the New California Republic...The new America.
