Description
The Novali are a exceptionally unique specimen of biology. They are, as of discovery, the only plasmoid race in the known Galaxy. Their biology revolves around a plasma based metabolism, in which they "eat" ionized air. Their Neon/Argon plasma "cells" need this constantly and the being will "starve to death" in 24 standard hours. Quotes are put around starve to death as the species simply shrinks till only its core, made of a dusty rock like material is left. If given a large enough shock and exposed to more ionized air the Novali will be restored, albeit missing its short term memory.

Its core is both its brain and its heart, circulating the plasma in a way similar to blood, as well as storing extra power to allow it to last 24 hours in the first place. Novali long term memory's are encoded in the cores twisting, complex, structure meaning damage to the core will result in the equivalent of brain damage. In order to communicate, the Novali speak in radio waves and one can listen in to a Novali conversation by tuning to the correct frequency.

As they are made of plasma, they can barely support themselves on non-metallic surfaces, as they use a powerful magnetic field to provide most of the weight support. On non-metallic surfaces they have to flop their core around which can damage it, so movement is slow. The Novali were discovered by Selo explorer's on a mission to scout out the Navashii system. The Novali are capable of changing their body shape some what, and imitated the shape of the Selo Scientists who made contact. The Selo uplifted the species as they do all intelligent species in their space.

Due to their plasma based biology providing a danger to themselves and other races (A carbon based lifeform will have its nervous system shorted out if within 3 meters of a average sized Novali), the Selo provided C.I. suits (Civilian Interaction Suit) to allow them to interact with the public. Most Novali suits nowadays are manufactured by a variety of species but this initial start is why most Navali suits resemble Selo.
