Description

The Toothol are a lanky tall race from a planet thought to be in the Great Divide region. They have a remarkable similarity to the humans of the sol system. Both share features biological and physiological, right down to the facial expressions. This has left some scientists to believe that the two may have somehow shared a common ancestry. Key biological differences, as well as being located in a different part of the galaxy, point to the similarities being a fluke.
Like humans, toothol have 4 limbs, 5 fingers and toes per foot, and an efficient cooling system in the form of sweat. Unlike humans, toothol have four lower jaws, each with many self-sharpening incisor-like teeth. They have next to no molars, relying on chopping action and a rasping throat to grind food down. These teeth are also semi-fluorescent and at certain angles will reflect light back at the viewer. While omnivores, toothol have a higher preference for vegetation than humans. To compensate, they have a much longer digestive system. Interestingly, males have a tongue with spines on the side shaped like fangs. These don't appear to aid in masticating food and seem to be for show.
Their tall vertical pupils can adapt to extreme lighting, acting as natural sunglasses. This allows them to look directly at a star for extended time with little ill effects. Their eyes do suffer from a reduced ability to see in the dark though. They have long semi-prehensile tails which act as a balance organ or an extra limb when needed. The first toe on their feet is thumb-like compared to the other 4, allowing for better grip on surfaces. They have much sparser hair than humans, and though they do grow head hair at around the same rate, most crop it short.
Toothol are in the unfortunate situation of being one of the many species enslaved to the Vectillion empire. Due to the brainwashing techniques, next to nothing of their original culture remains. All their cultural information has had to be collected from "deprogrammed" individuals. It's unclear if the little bits and pieces that do remain are in fact the toothol's culture and not their captors. Many individuals serve in the vect infantry, thus this is the main time a "wild" toothol is seen. They are always seen in their Planetary exosuits and tend to die if removed from them. However they don't need the suits to survive in standard atmo. Thus, this is thought to be another example of vectillion brain washing.
